News And Society Items Phone 257-3341 Mrs. Gene Davant of Charlotte visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Woodall last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Banzet had as their guests last weekend Mr and Mrs. Tom Banzet and daughters, Helen and Kinsey of Stoneville. Mr. and Mrs. James Frazier spent several days last week in Raleigh. Their daughter, Kate Frazier, of Winston-Salem, was their weekend guest. Visiting the Edward Hunters last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hunter and son of Hillsborough. Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Coleman and daughter, Mollie Fleming of Southern Pines were guests of Mrs. Wiley Coleman, Sr. recently. Here from Durham last weekend for a visit with her mother, Mrs. C. E. Rodwell, was Mrs. James Fischer Trotter. Mrs. Ersie Stewart has as her guest this week, her sister-in-law, Mrs. A. T. Stewart, of Washington. Mrs. Rufus Jones, Mrs. Duke Jones, Mrs. Whitmel Peoples, Mrs. William Davis and Mrs. J. E. Adams spent last week in White Stone, Va. with Mrs. J. C. Magruder, sister of Mrs. Rufus Jones and visited the homes on the James River and those in Lan caster County, Va. which were open during "Garden Week in Virginia." Mr. and Mrs. Luther Lee spent several days last week at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Tucker were Mrs. Gail Drake and son, Josh, of Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Carroll of Smithfield spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. Brad Carroll and children. Miss Jodie Carroll returned with her grandparents for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Marty Allen visited relatives in Smithfield last weekend and Mrs. Allen attended her 10th class reunion at Peace College in Raleigh. Mrs. Aaron Allen has returned from a visit with relatives in King's Mountain. Mrs. J.D. Palmer and Mrs. Ray Shearin spent Sunday in Durham with Mrs. S. 0. Nunn at Hill haven Nursing Home and with Mrs. Frank Reams at Hillcrest Retirement Home. Weekend guests of Mrs. W. P. Burwell were Mr. and Mrs Thurston Hicks and children, Cleve, Walker and Susie, of Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. David Robertson of Raleigh were dinner guests of Mrs. L. 0. Robertson, Sr. on Sunday night. Mrs. Lucy Seaman Poindexter of Rich mond, Va. visited relatives here on Sun day. Mrs. Elizabeth Rod well Daniel of Littleton was the guest of her sister, Miss Mary Fran ces Rodwell, on Sunday. Mrs. Fred Hurst, Mrs. F. M. Drake, Mrs. Virginia-Pearsall and Miss Elizabeth Allen were in Hillsborough on Saturday for the Homes Tour. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Davis and sons, Ward and Josh, were here last weekend for a visit with Mrs. W. S. Davis, Sr. Mrs. J. E. Adams and guest, Mrs. N. B. Waters of Greensboro, have returned from visits with relatives in Rich mond, Va., and West Point, Va. Miss Kathy Farmer of Wendell spent the weekend here with her grandmother, Mrs. W. F. Farmer. Mrs. Josephine Can non and Mrs. Elizabeth Barnes visited Miss Margie Cannon in Roanoke Rapids on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Neal were in Durham recently to attend a ser vice at the Mount Her man Baptist Church where their son, the Rev. Dudley Neal of Dunn, was conducting a revival. The Rev. Jerry Harper, former pastor of the Enterprise Bap tist Church near Lit tleton, is pastor of the Durham church. Clinton Neal, Jr. of Raleigh was a recent overnight guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Neal. Mr. and Mrs. Melville Hicks visited Mrs. L. E. Hicks at the Triad Methodist Retirement Home in Winston-Salem on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hicks, Jr. and Mrs Bertha Liles of Henderson accompan ied them. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Watson had as their guest this week Mr. Watson's sister, Mrs. Herbert Jones of Salisbury. Mr. and Mrs. James West of Areola attended the N.C. Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors reception held for the state legislators last Tuesday at the Velvet Goak Inn in Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Don Loposay, Kimberly, Karen, Jarrod and Natalie of Raleigh were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd Fleming and Boyd last Wednes day night. Natalie stayed for a few days' visit with her grandparents. They took her home on Sunday. Birth Mr. and Mrs. Harold H. Seaman of Norlina an nounce the birth of a son, Stephen Daniel, on April 27. The infant weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Mrs. Seaman is the former Elda Y. Ayscue of Warrenton. Maternal grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis T. Seaman of Warrenton. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Seaman of Norlina. The Seamans also have a daughter, Yvonne, age 2. When baking in heat proof glass pans, reduce oven temperature by 25 degrees F. MRS. JOHN WESLEY FRAZIER, m Miss Cheek Marries John W. Frazier, III Mary Bryan Cheek of Kinston and John Wesley Frazier, III of New York City were married on Saturday, April 27 at 6 p. m. in Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Kinston. The Rev. Henry George Randolph, Jr. officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Frederick Cheek, Jr. of Kinston, was given in marriage by her father. She is the granddaugh ter of Mrs. William R. Boyce of Warrenton. She is a graduate of St. Mary's College in Raleigh and the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned a degree in busi ness administration. She is a former cor porate banking officer with the First Union National Bank in Charlotte. The groom is the son of Mrs. John Wesley Frazier, Jr. of Salisbury and the late Mr. Frazier. He graduated from Virginia Episco pal School and North Carolina State Univer sity in Raleigh. He is an account representative with Milliken and Com pany in New York. The bride wore a for mal gown of candlelight satin and re-embroider ed Alencon lace accent ed with pearls and iri descence. The long veil was French lace. Matron of honor was Donna Williams of Chapel Hill. Brides maids were Laura Frazier Norman, sister of the groom, of Greens boro, Neely Sloan of Mount Olive, Arnette McNamara of York town, N. Y., Sally Bur ton of Raleigh, Betty Maxwell of Winston Salem, Kathalee Thompson of Charlotte, Allison Cheek of Kins ton, Judy Speight of Philadelphia, Pa., and Julie Hutchins of Charlotte. James F. Hurley of Salisbury was best man. Ushers were Boyce Cheek of Kinston, brother of the bride; Kip Chace, Martin Cor nelson, Reiley Mc Donald and Robert Williamson, all of New York, N. Y.; Derick Close of Columbus, Ohio; Elliott Newcombe of Palm Bay, Florida and Ralph Wear and John Henderlite of Salis bury. A wedding reception was held at the Kinston County Club. After a wedding trip to Ber muda, the couple will reside in New York. Parties honoring the bride and groom were given in Charlotte, Louisburg and Kinston. The rehearsal dinner was given at the Kinston Country Club by the mother of the groom, followed by a dance, given by friends of the bride. A wedding break fast at Walnut Creek Country Club was given by friends and family, including Mrs. William Boyce of Warrenton. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Alston, Sr. of Ridgeway an nounce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Angie Deniae, to Gregory Wayne Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anell Williams of War^ renton. The wedding is planned for June 8 at 3 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Route 2, Warrenton. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Miss Frazier Wins Chowan Scholarship Robin Lynn Frazier, a aenior at Warren County High School, has accept ed the Betty Spivey Pritchard Memorial Scholarship from Chowan College for the 1985-86 term. Miss Frazier plans to study accounting at Chowan College. She is a member of the Society of Distinguished High School Students and Who's Who Among American High School Students. She is a cheer leader and received the high school's accounting award. Miss Frazier is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herrin Frazier, Rt. 1, Warren ton.
