Dr. and Mrs. William Wessinger and daugh ter, Lucy of Savannah, Ga. were here for several days last week with Mrs. Wessinger's mother, Mrs. Nancy Blankenship and attend ed a dinner in Durham on Tuesday honoring Dr. J. L. Goldner on his retirement from the staff of Duke Medical Center. Mrs. Wessinger and Lucy will return to Warrenton on Wednes day to attend the Mason Peete wedding in Durham. Mrs. Elizabeth Daniel of Littleton and daughter, Miss Mary Elizabeth Daniel, of Chapel Hill were guests of Miss Mary Frances Rodwell on Sunday. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Roberts were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Draffin and children of Cary. Mrs. W. Duke Jones was in Raleigh on Saturday and Sunday for a visit with her son, Bill Jones and Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Rayford Young of Weldon spent the weekend here with Mrs. J. T. Jenkins. Col. Jen kins was in Dover, Ohio for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Walter Hanner. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff D. Palmer attended the University of North Carolina Annual Alumni Luncheon and Dis tinguished Service Medal Presentations in Chapel Hill on May 11. Palmer's brother-in-law, James Edgar Wads worth, was presented the Distinguished Service Medal. Wadsworth, former director of hous ing at the university, is married to the former Lallah Palmer of Warrenton. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. An drews of Norfolk spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd Fleming. Mr. and Mrs. Don Loposay and) family of Raleigh were weekend guests. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Stegall of Afton Elberon during the weekend were James Clifton Stegall of Miami, Fla. and Mr. and Mrs. John Holden Stegall and son, Matthew, of Greensboro. Career Day Plans Made Career Day is planned for Sunday, May 19, at 11:30 a. m. at Pleasant Zion Baptist Church. Dr. Walter Lowe of Morristown, N. TIMOTHY WAYNE HOLMES Miss Harris Weds Timothy W. Holmes On Saturday, May 4, Miss Sallie Elilzabeth Harris, formerly of Macon, became the bride of Timothy Wayne Holmes of Louisburg. The Rev. Jon Strother performed the double ring ceremony at the Macon United Metho dist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Harris, Jr. of Macon. She is a graduate of I xjuisburg College and is employed in Raleigh at the North Carolina Museum of Art. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Holmes of Louisburg. He is a graduate of Louisburg High School and is self-employed in Louisburg with North state Erectors. The bride was given in marriage by her par ents. Raymond Allen Harris, II, brother of the bride, presented a program of wedding music at the organ. Miss Kerry Harris of Afton, niece of the bride, served as maid of honor. The groom's father was best man. Grooms men were Rodney A. Holmes of Raleigh, brother of the groom, and J. Wesley Harris of Reidsville, brother of the bride. Immediately follow ing the ceremony, a re ception was held in the church fellowship hall. After a trip to the coast, the couple will reside in Raleigh. Rodwell Paintings Win In Montana Competition Paintings by Warren Plains artist Dianne T. Rodwell have been selected for three awards in the 7th Annual Competition of the Mon tana Miniature Art Society. Mrs. Rodwell learned of the acceptance of all four of her entries for participation in the ex hibit, to be held at the Castle Gallery in Bill ings, Mont, from May 3 to June 1. Harris has been elected to represent District 11 on the North Carolina Association of Educa tors Board of Directors. Announcement of the results of recent elec tions within the associ ation was made on April 30 following a meeting of the NCAE State Elec tions Committee. Mrs. Harris formerly taught in the Warren County school system and has recently accept' ed a position with Vance County Schools. Karen Garr, a Wake County teacher, was elected vice president president elect of the as sociation. Currently the president of the Wake County Association of Classroom Teachers, she is the second Wake County teacher to hold NCAE's top position in the last four years. Juror for this interna tional event was Frank Webb, member of the American Watercolor Society and Audubon Artists. He has selected several of Rodwell's works for participation in previous national exhibitions. Mrs. Rodwell's sel ected entries each depicted rural Warren County scenes, rendered in opaque watercolor. The Warren County Community Schools pro gram will sponsor Mrs. Rodwell in painting ses sions in July. DEASE M06ES Centuries Of Songs Set Concert Plans Set At Inez Plantation A concert of American songs will be presented by Donna Dease, mezzo-contralto, and Frederick Moses, bass-baritone, at Cherry Hill in Inez on Sun day, May 26, at 3:30 p.m. The program will include songs from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Among the eight composers whose works will be performed are Stephen Foster (1826-1864) and contemporary composer Aaron Copeland. Ms. Dease and Moses, both frequent soloists in North Carolina, have been heard most recently in Bach's "Magnificat" with the North Carolina Sym phony and his "St. Matthew Passion" with the Charlotte Symphony. They also sang in "The Medium," an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti and presented at the Duke University celebration "Winterfest." In 1983, Ms. Dease was a prize winner at the Franz Shubert Institute in Baden-bei-Wein, Austria, for her excellence in performing German art songs. She is a native of Raleigh. Moses is a member of the music faculties of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, the North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, and the Classical Music Seminar at Eisenstadt, Austria.
