Dance Plans Are Made The John R. Hawkins Alumni and Friends, Inc. is sponsoring an Oldie But Goodie Dance on Friday, Nov. 29, beginning at 9 p. m. at the Alumni Building on Hawkins School campus. The cost is $5 per per son. Tree Lighting Slated Bethesda Baptist Church in Palmer Springs, Va. will light the Chrismon Christmas Tree on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p. m. Communion Is Planned Bethesda Baptist Church in Palmer Springs, Va. will have a special communion service on Wednes day, Nov. 27, at 7 p. m. Everyone is invited to at tend. Auxiliary Will Gather The American Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held at the home of Ida Russell, 411 South Main St., Warrenton at 8 p. m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. All mem bers are urged to attend. Stew Sale Is Planned The Norlina Chapter 158 O.E.S. will sponsor a stew sale on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Norlina Woman's Club. Stew will be ready by 11:30 a.m. and will sell for $3 per quart. Benefit Dance Scheduled The Warren County Jaycees will sponsor a dance to benefit cystic fibrosis on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Warrenton Lions Den. The cost of admission is $5 per couple. Music will be pro vided by Dean Andrews. Copley and Eddie E. Brown. Orb Club Has Monthly Meet The Warren County Orb Club held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 21 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burton. The devotion was led by Mrs. Ola Clabron in dedication of the Bur tons' new home. She us ed songs and scripture reading during the time of meditation. Robert L. Harris led in prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Bellar Russell. During the business ses sion, plans were made for delivering Thanks giving baskets to the community sick and shut-ins. The club welcomes new members who wish to be a part of a group of senior citizens meeting for fellowship and worship. Thirteen members were present for the meeting. Three birthday tokens were received. Refreshments were served following ad journment of the meeting by the presi dent, Willa Burnette. Mrs. Powell Hostess For Garden Club Meet Mrs. Mary Powell was hostess for the Town N' Country Garden Club at its November meeting which met at the home of Mrs. Cora Hawkins. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Sallye Brown, president. The guest for the evening, James J. Jor dan, Jr., assistant superintendent of Warren County Schools, demonstrated the beautiful wreaths and flower arrangements which could be made from grapevines, wild flowers, decorative weeds and pods found in fields and along the roadside. It was amazing to see common weeds turn into attrac tive arrangements. He said the different shapes that can be used to arrange flowers are L right side, L-left side, oval and triangle. He demonstrated by using an antique white pitcher and for color he added artificial flowers. Drift wood or old pieces of wood with moss can be used by gluing flowers, pods, weeds or shells to make an arrangement to be used on the mantel or table. The chairperson of each committee gave her report. At the next meeting chairpersons will give more detail in formation. Members present were Mesdames S. Brown, G. Exum, G. Fitts, H. Gardner, C. Hawkins, S. Hawkins, E. Hudgins, M. Jordan and M. Powell. A buffet was served and enjoyed. Couple Announce Birth Of Girl Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wright of Warrenton an nounce the birth of a daughter, Mary Lou Danielle, on Nov. 5. The infant weighed seven pounds, 10 ounces. The mother is the former Karen Vaughan of Norlina. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James R. Vaughan of Norlina and the paternal grand mother is Mrs. Mattie Wright of Henderson. The couple have two sons, D. J., age six, and Patrick, age four.
