Bridges, and now practicing law in Greensboro, has been made a deputy clerk of the Guilford Superior Court. Miss Mary Louise Robertson has returned to her home here after a visit to her sister, Mrs. om Brough ton, in G imer. Mr. and Mrs. Jethro Stell went to Richmond Sunday. Returning they brought Mrs. M. E. Shambur ger. Betsy and Van. Mrs. Sham burger will visit her mother, Mrs. Pittman Stell; Betsy has gone for a week with her cousin, Louise Johnson, at Lumberton; Van will be for this week the guest of Dave Finch. Mrs. Wallace Temple left on Wednesday morning to visit Miss Velma Preslar at Wingate. Mr. and Mrsu Laurence Tracey have returned from a two week’s visit among friends and relatives in W. Va. Miss Ealine Strickland has re turned from a hospital in Wilson where she underwent a serious oo eration. We are glad to know' she is home and appears to be in lmr usual health. Julian R. Horton is spending his vacation this week visiting his par ents and the seashort. Mr. and Mrs. CL M. Watson and chldren, J. K. and Louis, returned home Saturday from Richmond, Washington, the Shenandoah Val iev and otheT points of interest where they spent their vacation for ten or twelve days. Harvey Strickland of Washing ton, D. C. is visiting his mother. Mrs. TseaT Strickland, this w«ek. Miss Melba Parker is visiting her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Collie, in Spring Hope this week, j John F. Cockrpll visited friends j and relatives in Wendell Sundav. On last Sundav Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Debnam visited Mrs. Pehn am s mother, Mrs. Brvant, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs Norman Screws have returned from an extensive tour of North and South Carolina and Alabama visiting relatives. Mrs. Stanlev Shorr and little -on Irwin are visiting relatives in Bal timore. Percy Pitts of Spring Hope was a business visitor in town Tuesday. G. K. Corbett and family and C. M Hocutt and family spent Sun day at Whte Lake. Ruric Gill and family are visit ing relatives in Washngton, D. C. They will visit several places of in terest on their way home Mr. and Mrs. 1,. W. Tracey have as their house guest for this week Miss Reva. Williams of Webster Springs, W Va Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Debnam and family are visiting in Richmond, Baltimore arid Washington ths week. Mrs. John Wlson from near Lou isburg visited her sister, Mrs. T. M. Conn, La«t Sunday in W. Va. Miss Mary Elizabeth Campen is home for her vacation from Johns- Hopkins Hospital where she is in training. Dr. and Mrs. Chas. E. Flowers spent Saturday night in Norfolk where they were called by the crit ical illnes of a friend. Charles Flowers. Jr., is expected home this week after a six weeks •stay at a boys’ camp in the western part of the state. Mrs. Latta Marshbum of Spring Hope and children, Allan, Margaret and Junior were with Mrs. Marsh bums mother, Mrs. W. L. Wiggs, the first part of this week. Miss Fannie Lou Wiggs has ar rived home from Flushing, N. Y., on vacation, and will be with her mother, Mrs. W. L. iWggs. Miss Mildred Winstead of Ran somville is visiting her sster, Mrs. Irby GUI. M iss Mary Ellen Millard recently j soent some time here with her for mer room-mate at G. C. W., Miss Grace Coltrane. Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Coltrane and Miss Grace Coltrane left on Satur day afternoon of last week for a vacation trip. They were accompa nied by Rev. E. M. Hall. Mrs. Hall and their son, John, who came here from Lillington that day. The party will visit New York, Boston and the state of Maine. While in Bos ton arrangements will be complet ed for the entrance of Miss Grace Coltrane as a student at the New England Conservatory of Music with the beginning of the fall term.
