Local Personal Items Mrs. Ernest Mercer and children of Washington, N. C. spent Monday with the Fred Becks. Houston Hudgins came from D. C., Friday night to join his wife and children at the R. H. Bridgers. They will re turn to Washington next Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Jones of Raleigh spent the weekend in Zeb ulon with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Bridgers, Miss Linda Bridgers and Ulysses Johnson spent Sunday at White Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Bunn of Greensboro spent the weekend with the Falc Bunns. Their sons who have been visiting their grandparents returned home with them. Mr. and Mrs R. H. Brantley, Jr., and children spent Saturday with the Russell Brantleys. Miss Margaret Newton Floyd of Washington, D. C., and George Lefler spent Sunday with the Armstrong Cannadys. Mrs. Elmo Finch’s family had a reunion Sunday at Lake Mirl. Mr. and Mrs. Talmon Finch of Knight dale were hosts for the occasion. Capt. and Mrs. H. K. McDevitt and sons of Eglin Field, Fla., ar rived Friday night to spend about three weeks with Mrs. Mc- Devitt’s mother, Mrs. Utrice Car ter. Mrs. Robert Gleason of Detroit, sister of Mrs. Daniel and Mrs. Pippin, re turned with the party to spend three weeks visiting relatives in Zebulon. Sgt. Jeffrey Carter of Fort Jack son, S. C., and Miss Betty Lou Carter of Raleigh were home for the weekend. Charles Brooks Finch is home on two weeks leave from the Naval Proving Grounds at Dahlgren, Va. The Hubert Watsons of Frank linton spent Sunday with the C. M. Watsons. Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Whitley are vacationing in the western part of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bryant have returned from a weeks vaca tion to Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Dsnie] vis ited Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Stevens and Dr. and Mrs. Z. M. Caviness in Raleigh Sunday. Attending the Sanderford-Mar ley wedding in Cary Sunday were the Charles Hawkins, Harden Hin tons, Horace Gays, Sprite Fer rells, Nelson Pearces, Worth Hin tons, J. C. Debnams, Ainsworth Privettes, Mrs. Verda Carter and Mrs. Georgia Croom. Mrs. Carsey Tippett and Mrs. Berdon Eddins and children are vacationing at Carolina Beach. Mrs. Ed Hales returned Sunday from Ayden, but Celia remained for a longer visit. Spending the weekend in the home of the Vance Browns for the Brown-Herndon wedding were Miss Ruth Brown, Mrs. Elliott and Webb Brown of Asheville, and Fletcher Bradshaw of the Weeks ville Naval Base. Miss Ruth Brown returned to Asheville with her aunts and uncle for a visit. The Massey family reunion was held Sunday at the home of the Riggsby Masseys. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daniel Mas sey and children of Whitakers spent the weekend with G. C. Massey. Mrs. H. O. Hinnant is still in Duke Hospital, Mr. T. Y. Puryear is confined to his bed. He appre ciates cards and visits. Miss Alice Harrison of Burgaw visited him Sunday afternoon, also Mr. Billie Gresham of Raleigh. Misses Norma and Effie Thomp son of Archie Lodge spent the weekend with Misses Bettie and Shirley Hinnant. Mr. and Mrs. M. Corbett of Deland, Fla., visited Mrs. Frank Hood recently. Mrs. F. V. Hood and daughter, Mrs. Wayne Lewis spent Thursday with Mrs. M. D. Hood near Zebu lon. Mrs. Charlie Carter and chil dren, and Mrs. Wilbur Hemly and baby of Kinston spent the weekend with their parents, the John Starnes. Hood and daughters, Mrs. Wayne Lewis called at the T. Y. Puryears last Thursday night. Mr. L. C. Liles is improving from a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. D. L.
