Thurtdoy, Oct. 31, 1968 Auxiliary Entertains For Maryfield Residents Cats Take Over Maryfield Auxiliary mem bers onterlalncd residents at Maryfield Nursing ilome yes terday afternoon with a Hallo ween parly- The honorees wore costumes in keeping with the party This social was one of sev eral events sponsored by the service group during the year. Others include Christmas par- lies and remembrances at Thanksgiving and Easter. To date, the auxiliary has more than doubled its mem bership since it was be;;un in 1966, and still more members are needed The group is com posed of non-pald volunteer workers who assist Ihe resi dents by answering the phone, directing visitors to the rooms, bringing fresh water to the pa tients, distributing books and magazines, taking the patients out of doors — weather per mitting, feeding invalids and doing other acts of mercy. Seventeen members were present at Ihe organizational meeting in February 1966. Mrs. Royster Thurman was the first chairman and Mrs. G. L. Burgess was named auxiliary voted to wear short blue smocks as a method of identifying the workers. The current membership numbers 40. Persons desiring to join the auxiliary have been asked to contact Mrs. Mark Combs, chairman or Sister Mary Pa trice. There are also openings for substitute workers.
