He was ii pilot on the NC 4, the famous naval seaplane which made the first transat lantic voyage, and was in the cockpit of that plane when it was lost out in the gulf of Mexico in December, 1919. On that occasion the- NC-4 left Galves ton, Tel., early in the morning on an intended non-stop flight to Mobile, Ala. Throughout the day and the night and part of the following day the famous seaplane was unheard from.
