In a highly exciting baseball game Thursday afternoon the Pharmacists defeated the Lawyers by the score of 10 lo 9. On Satur day morning the Pill Rollers in turn met defeat at the hands of the doughty Meds to the tune of 18 to 12. Dr. C. L. The Hokey Pokey Man. Chapel Hill is not such an insu lated village after all, although it is rather far removed from the froth and foam of metropolitan exis tence. Now and agaiu bits of city life persist in drifting in and an choring under the classic shades of Captain Frank's knowledge shop. This time it is the "hokey pokey man". With his simple culinary apparatus ensconced hard by the post office where the savor7 odor of his browning cones will bring bliss ful twinges of anticipation to the largest number of student palates he plies his trade, preparing his cones on a dimutive oil range, loading them from a neighboring freezer, and disposing of them, completed "hokey pokevs", to the hungry bystanders for the nominal consideration of five cents each. The Season Closes. Dr. Thomas E. Green, of Iowa, a noted orator and lecturer of the Middle-West closed the Star Course lecture program for this year Fri day night with his lecture "The Key to the 20th Century"! Dr. Green's lecture was a very inter esting and instructive study of problems in American dynamics, but he could have cut it in two in the middle to good advantage. A lecture two hours and a half in length, no matter how interesting, is too much 'to impose upon any audience. Juniors vs. Meds After the Meds had administered chastisement to the Lawyers Mon day, 11 to 10 being the score, the Juniors, in turn, stepped in Tues day and beat the doctors 10 to 9. It was a good game and a mighty uncertain one, until the last- inning, for both teams stepped into the pitchers good and hard. For the Meds Clark caught a nice game and Vic Williams starred in left. Urn stead, for '08, made a beauty throw from deep center, catching his man at the home plate. Rand also cre ated somewhat of a sensation in the seventh by lining out a two-bagyer wi th th ree on bases and two al ready down. Baseball Farewell! No more big games now; the Var sity went out of commission after yesterday's game and all that re mains now is the formality of awarding the sweaters. Manager Robinsou had expected to take the team to Norfolk for two games with Lehigh at the Jamestown ex position grounds on the 3rd and 4th, but has' been compelled to can cel the contract for these games on account of the unfinished condition of the Exposition's stadium.
