BRISBANE, Dec. 14 -(ff)- If the
American Davis Cup team "mur

on the Australians the explanation
should be simple.
The answer may be it doesn't
pay to make the Yankees mad.
The Americans are boiling over

Hemric Scores 28
For Deacs' Attack
LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 14 -(JP)-Led
by two sophomore sharpshoot
ers, Kentucky pulled out of a close
basketball game in the final period
tonight to bury Wake Forest, 101
69. Linville Puckett and Phil
Grawemeyer, seeing service for the
first time this season with the
nationally second ranking Wild
cats, scored 12 and 11 points re
spectively, as Kentucky outscored
the Deacons, 36-14, in the last
quarter.
Before that, Kentucky had
wac . . . . .

margin was 65-55 after
three periods.
Kentucky's defensive supremacy
was the big factor in the second
half turn of events. Wake Forest
was held to just four field goals in
the third quarter and none in the
fourth.
With Dick Hemric hitting in tie
first quarter, however, Kentucky
was in deep hot water for awhile.
Hemric scored 13 of his 28 points
in the opening stanza before a
change in defensive assignments
checked him. Lowell Davis added
16 points to the Deacon cause.
Cliff Hagan, with 18 points al
though sitting out much of the sec
ond half, and Frank Ramsey, with
16, led Kentucky scoring.
