Jim Alderman, who at times has started games at tackle and guard for UNC, will also bow out. •“We’re losing some outstand ing men,” said Coach Jim Hickey. “Our tackles have been a mainstay of our attack all sea son. Kortner, Esposito and Co captain Gene Sigmon have played up to the standards of any tackles in modem times here.” In the backfield, only quarter back Junior Edge is a senior among the active players. Co captain Roger Smith, who suf fered a hand injury at mid-sea son, will dress but will not see action against Duke. “Our success this year has been greatly due to fine lead ership from the senior mem bers of the squad,” said Hickey. “Each one has given a little extra for the cause. This mor ale factor is a key to any club's performance." Edge has turned in a bril liant season for the Tar Heels and currently leads the Atlan tic Coast Conference in total offense. His completions in the Miami game set a new pass completion record for Carolina. A packed stadium is expected to view the game between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels. Carolina seniors look back on the past two years and admit they seek revenge. Duke won by scores of 6-3 and 16-14, with the margin of victory being de cided by field goals in both in stances. Duke got the bulk of its scor ing from Reynolds, who kicked three fields goals all told. The Blue Devils made their lone touchdown on a six - yard run by Billy Futrell. Without doubt, the game was the best effort by Carolina all season. IA fumble provided Duke with the final scoring situation. Turnout was 40,000 and the game was played in perfect weather.
