C.—Three Government agencies joined in a declaration against inclusion of school youth “in any employment plan until other sources of labor have been exhausted.” The declaration was part of a statement of policies and standards issued to guide urban communities in establish* ing part-time school and work program. Signed by Paul V. McNutt, chairman of the War Man power Commission; Katharine F. Lenroot, chief of the Chil dren’s Bureau of the Labor Department, and Dr. John W. Tryon St. Three War Planes Bear Dressmakers Union Name NEW YORK CITY. — For the first time in this country there are three war planes flying bearing the name of a labor union. These three planes are a pursuit ship, a medium bomber and a heavy bomb er, and the name they bear is uNew York Dressmakers’ Union ILGWU.” They are named after Dressmak ers’ Union Local 22 of the Inter national Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, A. F. of L. The dressmakers’ organisation was granted the honor of having the three planes named after it self in recognition of its success ful effort to raise $550,000 in war bonds earlier this year in the course of the Second War Loan. -V Veterans Foreign Wars Will Stage Festival Week October llth-16th —V— Charlotte’s 96-acre Southern States Fair grounds, hailed as the South’s finest but unused since the 1941 event, is being groomed for a gala October “Victory Festival Week” that will return to Charlotte many of the top flight entertainment feat ures formerly seen at the annual ex position.
