Across the sea, on Chinn’s shore i
A peasant woman trudged her
| way;
Her body with disease was sore,
Yet hope had stirred her heart
this day,
■ ■ ' *
For she had heard that in the
town
A missionary, kind, was there, j
With medicines of rare renown.
To help the sick in their de
spair.
She went, was helped, and later
when
Her health was finally restored,
With ten large eggs—she went
away again—
The choicest gift she could af
ford.
The missionary smiled because
The gift, she did not want to
take;
She knew how poor the woman
was
And longed to serve for Love’s
own sake.
“Forgetter of one’s grace? Ah,
no!"
The woman plaintively replied;
“I would not be so mean and
low!”
She could not, would not, be
denied!
4
How often gross ingratitude
We would despise as low and
base!
It is a sin of magnitude
Ignoring and targeting grace!
Forgetters of God’s grace are we?
Forgetting al] that He has
done.
Providing life, eternal, free.
Through Jesus Christ His bles
sed Son?

Like that poor peasant may we
yearn
Our gratitude to fain express;
And from her action may we
learn
To render heartfelt thankful
ness!

A NEW LAW MEANS YOUR SERIES E BONDS
CAN NOW GO ON EARNING INTEREST
AFTER THEIR MATURITY DATE
Tan year* ago, did you go to
the defense of your country with
the purchase of U. S. Defense
Bonds? If you have kept those
bonds here’s good news for you.
Congress has passed a law which makes it possi
ble, now, for your Defense Bonds to go on paying
you interest longer than was originally planned—
with absolutely no effort on your part.
And there is nothing for yon, as a bond holder, to do.
Von need not exchange the bonds you have. You need
not sign any paper, fill out any form. You simply keep
your bonds as yon have been heeping~fl»caiL
Yau may sHII redeem any Series E Bond at any
time after you’ve owned it for sixty days. But
holding on to your bonds is the smart thing to do
if you can. For in U. S. Bonds your money is safe
... your government bonds are as safe as Amentia
itself.
And don't forget that the money you put into
U. S. Bonds regularly and leave there is steadily
growing into a larger and larger sum. Before you
know it you’ll have money enough for a home, a
business, a retirement hind, an education for your
children, or whatever really big thing is your per
sonal dream. Now, remember, your Series E
Bonds earn 3% interest compounded semiannually
when they’re held to maturity.
Bonds ars safer than cash, tee. For once lost,
cash is gone forever. But if your bonds are lost or
accidentally destroyed your United States Treas
ury will replace them at no cost or loss to you.
So if you Mvi bonds wtucn are coming
due this month, remember the new money
making chance your government is giving
you. Just hold onto your brands and they’ll
go on earning for you. In the meantime
keep up your regular saving with more U. S.
Defense Bonds—through the Payroll Savings
Plan where you work. It’s the easy, systematic sav
ing plan that lets you save before you draw your
pay. Thousands say it’s the one sure way to save! *
