Fourth From B1 Talib’s invitation and that the league didn’t fine him. Still though, you can’t punk a man in front of the whole world and expect no punish ment. Brand new Alabama Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian forgot about the 60 plus cam eras at his game last week. Sark was up in the booth and, either bored or hungry during the game, decided to root around in his nostril with the little finger of his left hand. It was his decision to then stick the above mentioned digit, and an3rthing stuck to it, in his mouth while on television that disgusted more than a few of us. As humiliating as that may be, it’s not as em barrassing as it must have been when a few members, of the US Men’s Olympic Basket ball Team decided they could, while compet ing in Brazil, go visit a brothel unnoticed. In a day and age when every camera has a phone (yes I said that right), what would make two 6’H” and one 6’7” highly televised and talked about million aires think they could stroll up in The House Of The Rising Sun with out somebody trying to get paid by TMZ? The same kind of question could have been asked to Michael Phelps. The Olympic swimmer was visiting Bertie ~ the University of South Carolina in 2008 when he decided to smoke marijuana in front of six people including at least one guy he didn’t know very well. I’m certain it was me dicinal but it was a mere three months after win ning eight gold medals in Beijing. Despite being the biggest sports star on the planet, Phelps thought it wise to pub licly self medicate by taking riffs off a two foot glass bong. Fortunately for Phelps, he isn’t even the most notorious Olym pic swimmer. No swim mer has been more em barrassing and dumb in front of cameras than Ryan Lochte. He is that silly looking fellow that got drunk in Brazil, trashed a gas station, tried to get away, got some guns pulled on him by security guards and then told people the next day that he got robbed. All that mess, only to have security footage come out that shows what really hap pened. We could all try and do less dumb stuff in our life but those that work in front of cam eras should try harder. That’s all I’m saying. David Friedman is a long time sports writer and columnist. A Bertie High School graduate, he and his family currently reside in Wilmington. David can be reached via e-mail at fourthand- longcolumn@gmail. com. From B1 12. Nyasia Barnes and Carlisa Spivey contrib uted nine and eight points, respectively. Morings led the Fal cons on the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds. Spivey had eight re bounds. Spivey recorded half (four) of Bertie’s eight blocks. Morings added three, while ShaNidra Outlaw had one.
