February 2 Martin Community College Bertie Campus will host a new class titled “Intro to Human Service” on Tuesdays and Thurs day nights, beginning Feb. 6 and ending March 23. The class es will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. The course is an exploration of the skills and strategies needed to be an income maintenance worker within Division of Social Services agen cies. February 6 The Bertie County Commissioners will hold their regularly scheduled meeting at 4 p.m. Monday Feb. 6 in the Commis sioners room at the Bertie County Courthouse on Dundee Street. February 7 Notice is hereby given to the public and the news media that the Bertie County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting beginning with closed session at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 7 at the Central Office Complex, 715 U.S. 13 N, Windsor. The open session portion of the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Martin Community College’s next Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program has been rescheduled to begin on Feb. 7. Classes are conducted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Mon day through Friday, and every other weekend during the day. Successful completers may then sit for the state’s BLET State Comprehensive Examination. Those interested in applying must complete a packet of information and forms no later than Feb. 6. February 16 Vidant Bertie Hospital will host its Heart Health Event at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Cashie Heritage Convention Center. February 18 The Bertie County Branch of the NAACP, under the leadership of Rev. Kennedy Barber, President, will hold its annual Jubilee Day Celebration at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 18. The service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1352 Woodard Rd., Windsor.
