First Judicial District Judge J. Carlton Cole heard the case and is sued the order in Bertie County Superior court. Global Education Re sources, LLC (GER), the management company of Three Rivers Acade my, sought a temporary restraining order earlier this month to prevent the removal of school furnishings, computers, equipment and buses from the former site of HCLA on County Farm Road in Windsor. GER believed the items mentioned had been removed from the site sometime in July by HCLA, its founder. Dr. Kashi Bazemore-Hall, or someone at their be hest, in a dispute over ownership. GER had assumed the original charter of HCLA, as granted by the North Carolina State Board of Education, and in June re-branded the school as Three Rivers Academy. Earlier this week, the State Board ruled on a request by TRA to move the school from Wind sor to Powellsville at the site of the old C.G. White Middle School. Relocation outside a five-mile radius where the charter was origi nally granted had to first receive Board ap proval. Museum to sponsor beard contest during oelebration THADD WHITE Bertie Ledger-Advance WINDSOR - A step back into the past. As part of the 250th anniversary celebra tion for the town of Windsor, Russell’s Back-in-the-Day Muse um is planning a beard contest. The contest was originally held in 1968 and was a part of the town’s 200th anniver sary celebration. “The popular con test in 1968 was fun and drew many differ ent looks,” said J.W “Russ” Russell. “Since the town commit tee hasn’t planned a competition, we have decided the tradition need not be dropped.” Russell said there would be two divi sions of the competi tion. One of them will be for “newbies” who are normally clean shaven during the year. The second will be for those currently adorning facial hair throughout the year. The contest will be open to people throughout the coun ty. There will be no age limit, though younger participants may need parental approv^il. November is general ly known as “No Shave November,” which is a fundraiser for cancer research.
