Three Highlands Groups Discuss Beautif ication, Zoning, Town Government The Satulah club, the Cham ber of Commerce, and the Ro tary club held a joint meeting Thursday night at the school theatre to discuss the beautlfl ication of Highlands, with spe cial reference to Main street. The Satulah club was asked to appoint a committee to see the citizens about the planting of shrubbery at intervals in the center parking space on Main street and along the sidewalks, and to ask property owners to start individual clean-up and beautifying work. The zoning of the town was discussed at this* meeting and also the question of the advis : ability of changing town board elections so that two members of the old board would always be retained to work with the three incoming members. This suggestion was made in view of the fact that a town board is elected for only two years, and any plan for zoning and beau tification, as well as other town policies, begun by one board might be side-tracked or drop ped entirely by a new board un familiar with what had gone (on before. | This suggestion appeared to meet the approval of many of those present at the meeting and is to be considered further.
