Motor Vehicle Auto Inspection Law (This is one of a series of the motoring public with articles designed to acquaint the requirements ot the Motor Vehicle Inspection program). RALEIGH. Every motorist who owns a vehicle more than 80 inches wide, must see that that vehicle is equipped with, clearance lamps before it can be approved by the State's me chanical inspection lanes. In addition, owners- or trail ers or semi-trailers must equip them with reflex-reflectors The following requirements are set forth in the Manual of the Motor Vehicle mechanical inspection requirements: , Clearance Lights: "Every ve hicle having a width at any part in excess of 80 inches shall carry two clearance lamps at the front, one at each side, re flecting an amber lignt plainly visible under normal atmospher ic conditions lrom a distance of 500 feet to tne iront 01 saio vehicle and two clearance lamps at the rear; one on each side and reflecting a red light vis ible under like conditions from a distance of 500 feet to the rear of the vehicle." Reflex Reflectors: "Trailers or semi-trailers over 2,500 pounds gross shajl carry at least one reflex-reflector as approved by the commissioner. In addition to the regular tail light located as to a height and maintained as to be visible at least 500 feet when approached by a motor vehicle displaying lawiul un dimmed headlights at night on an unlighted highway. "Trailers under 2,500 pounds gross shall carry two led re llect-retlectors, each not less than four inches in diameter and to be of a type approved by the commissioner and which are so located as to height and maintained so as for each re flector to be visible for at least 500 feet when approached by a motor vehicle displaying law ful undimmed headlights at at night on an unlighted high way." The Manual further states that "all vehicle light switches and wiring shall comply with the approved assembly require, ments and shall be in goad working order and in accord ance with original design. All wiring must be maintained in good safe condition." Ministerial Students From Bob Jones College Conduct Several Meetings Here Ten ministerial students from Bob Jones University, Green ville, S. Upon graduation from the Aviation Cadet school the young men will be commissioned a. pilots and Second Lieutenants in the United States Air Forct and will receive a minimua. salary of $336.00 per month plus $500.00 per year bonus for eaci. year of active duty with ttu Air Force. In addition, eacl graduate will be given an al lawance of $250.00 for uniform, upon graduating from th school. While attending the schoc the cadets will receive $75.01 per month, $10,000 of free lilt insurance, and free meals, quai ters, medical and dental cart unitorms and equipment. Nellie NeUon Monday Mrs Nellie Mae Nelson, 26, of the Prentiss section of Macon County, died Friday morning in a /Franklin hospital. Funeral services were held at the Prentiss Baptist church Monday morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. Claude Ledford officiating. Burial fallowed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Floyd Potts, Lake Ledford, Roy Potts, Ray mond Sanders, Ellis Ledford, and Jess Sanders. Mrs. Nelson was a native of Haywood county. She was the daughter of Bolden Hargro.e and the late Mrs. Martha Rhod armer Hargrove, of Waynesviile, and a member of the Haywood county Baptist church. Surviving are her husband, Birl Nelson; five children. Gar land, Lee, Charles Edwin, -Mar tha Louise, Eunice V. and Den Allen; her father; two listers, Mrs. Edna Myers, of Salem, N. J., and Mrs Edith Miller, of Waynesviile. Funeral arrangements were handled by Potts funeral home.
