DEADLINES SET ; FOR INSPECTION Dates Fixed When Various /tuto Models Must Get Approved Stickers RALEIGH, N. C.? The N. C. Motor Vehicle department has issued a new set of rules and regulations designed to speed up the Mechanical inspection program of vehicles. The regulations set five dead lines during the remainder of 1948 tor various model vehicles to be presented for inspection. Arthur T. Moore, director of the department's mechanical in spection division, said the ne cessity for the new regulations was made evident by the fact that at the end of June only 250,185 of the state's 862, 2at registered vehicles had been in spected. 'me new requirements, wnicn ?o into eiieet immtuiaifciy, stip ulate that: i 1. Ail motor vehicles oi year moaels up to ana uiciu^iug ltJb vehicles 01 year .auucia up to and liiouuiiig 1930 ana vehicles ol year moaeis lut'l auu 1948 must be inspected Dy Aug ust 31. 2. The mechanical inspection law, passed by the 1947 general assemoiy, require's that all ve hicles must be inspected once during 1948 and twice a year thereafter. The commissioner of motor vehicles is given power under the act to promulgate such rules and regulations as he deems necessary to the ad ministration of the law. By setting up the various deadlines, Mr. Moore said the department could be assurred that by the end of 1948 all reg istered vehicles will have paid a visit to one of the state's 36 mechanical inspection lanes, "in this way," he added, "the lanes will not have to undergo such a tremendous rush at me end of the year."
