j+mmmmmmmm NEWS MM. won HOUUlCtJTT III ANDER80NS HONORED ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY Marking the fiftieth wedding anniversary ol theflr parents, Mr. and Mrs. St. Clair Ander sen, Mrs. Carl Cabe and Mrs. Lawrence Rice entertained with open house Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Cabe. The house was decorated throughout with spring flowers, with the gold of lemon lilies predominating. Gold - also was emphasized in the refreshments. The cake was served by Mrs. Henry Christy, Mrs. James Den man and Mrs. Erwin Pattern presided at the punch bowl, avid the guest book was In charge of Mrs. Hyldah Shep herd. More than 50 Mends called during the afternbon. Among those present was Mrs. Anderson's only sister, Miss Eva Brokaw, of Albany, N. Y., whose arrival came as a com plete surprise to the Andersons. Miss Brokaw will remain here for about two weeks. The anniversary party, came on the eve of Mr. Anderson's 72nd birthday. Mrs. Anderson also Is 72. He is a native of Portland, Pa., while Mrs. Anderson was born In Woodrldge, N. J. Pol lowing their marriage, May 24, 1899, they made their home In New Jersey until 1913, when they moved to New York state, and for several years Mr. And erson was wityi the N. Y. State Laboratory of Research at Al bany. They moved to Franklin when he retired in 1938. They are members Of the Franklin Methodist church, and Mr. Anderson hold* ? 25-year Masonic membership certificate,1 while Mrs. Anderson has a 25 year Order of the Eastern Star membership certificate. They have one other daugh ter, Mrs. Lawrence L. Rice, of Richland, Wash., and two (rand, children, Laura Mae and John Calvin Cabe. CARTOOGECHAYE CLUB ?OLDS LADIES' NIGHT The Cartoogechaye Men's club entertained with a Ladies' night at the Cartoogechaye commun ity house Saturday night. A picnic supper wa? served. Twenty guests attended. ENTERTAIN WITH DESSERT BRIDGE AT FERRT HOME Mrs. J. E. Perry, Jr., and Mrs. J. E. Perry, 8r., entertained with a dessert bridge at the home of the latter on Harrison avenue last Friday afternoon. ' Prizes were won by Mrs. W. E. Hunnlcutt, high score; Mrs. A. B. Mrs. Lee Crawford has re turned home from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Arch Rous seau, in North Wilkesboro. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Walker, of El kin, spent several days this week with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr, &nd Mrs. Clar ence Henry, Miss Jo Conley and a frlejid, Miss Eunice Catlege, of Atlanta, Oa., were here for the wtek end with Miss Conley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George J. Conley, at their home on Iotla street. Mr. and Mrs. George J. Conley and Grover P.
