Grade Mothers Al Cullataja School Announced * Grade mothers for five of the .classrooms at the Cullasaja school have been announced. The list follows: Mrs. Lovicia J. C. 4 OUT OF 10(1 EXAMINEES HAVE CANCER Growing Number Going To Clinics Shows Public Interest Up to this time, 4.3 per cent of those examined In the six cancer diagnostic centers oper ated by the North Carolina State Board of Health have been found to have cancer, figures just compiled reveal. One of the six centers, serv ing this end of the state. Is situated at the C.. J. Harris Community hospital, Sylva. The number being examined at the various clinics U said to be constantly growing, indlcat ng that the public is becoming lware of the Importance of ?arly detection of cancer, since it is In Its early stages that It is curable. Free clinics are held weekly, the one at Sylva on Fridays. No clinic wi'l be held there Friday ( tomorrow ) , however, since hPt day falls two days be ore Christmas, and the State Board of Health has designated It as a holiday for health workers throughout the state. Felix Stewman has returned to his home here, after a year in Winfie!d, Kans., where he was employed. Miss Marie Crisp has accept ed a position at Angel clinic. Mr. .and Mr*. Edward McCar son and family have moved from Ellijay to Leicester, in Buncombe county. Letter Club Initiates 14 High Girls Fourteen Frank in High school ft Is ? thU year's cheer leaders and members of last year's girls' basketball squad ? were initiated into the school's Letter club at an initiation ceremony last week. The basketball players who became members of the Letter club are Misses Carolyn Bryson, Connaree Nolen, Betty Let Moore, Jean Setser, Betty Hen ry, and Dorothy Medlin. The cheer leaders init.ated are Misses Bebee Sharitz, Virginia Cansler, Julia Hunnicutt, Caro line Crawford, Wi'ma Renshaw, Iva Jean 'Taylor, Sarah Ledford and Marguerite Smart..
