H. O. STORY BRIDGE CLUB MEETS WITH MISS GILDER The Tuesday afternoon hridge club met with Miss Sara Ollder last week at her apartment on Oak street, with three tables in play. The high score bridge prize was won by Mrs. Russell Pax ton, and the bingo prize by Mrs. John H. C. Perry. Autumn | flowers were used In decorating the rooms and mid-afternoon i refreshments were served. MISS HICKS WEDS R. E. CHOWDER Miss Margaret Susan Hicks, of Richmond, Va., daughter of .Mr. and Mrs. J. Lawrence Hicks, of Highlands, was married to Raymond E. Crowder, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Crowder, of Richmond, in a ceremony No vember 1, at 7:30 p. m. The Rev. Wade R. Kay, pas tor of the Richmond North Side Baptist church, performed the ceremony. Only a few rela tives and friends were present, among them being Mr. and Mrs. Carl Holt, uncle and aunt of the bride. The bride wore a suit of royal blue with black accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. She was graduated in September from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond, and is on the hospital nursing staff. The bridegroom is in the automobile sales business. He is a member of the local unit of the National Guard. Mr. and Mrs. Crowder are re siding in Richmond. BEG YOUR PARDON The name of Linda Shope was unavoidably omitted from the Franklin honor roll, which ap peared in last week's issue of The Press. The omission is re gretted. PERSONALS J. R. Holbrook, J.r., of Akron, Ala., was the guest of his sister, Mrs. Frank B. Cook, and family for several days last week fol lowing his and Mr. Cook's re turn from a hunting and fish ing trip to Charleston, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Holt are building a five-room cottage in the Holt sub-division ad joining the property of Colonel and Mrs. H D. Porterfield on the Franklin road. Week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Davis were Mr. Davis' sister, Mrs. W. R. Harper, of Como, Texas, and his son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bolton, of Commerce, Ga. Mrs. Harper will return here for a further visit before going home. Mrs. H. P. P. Thompson is vis Itlng her daughter, Mrs. C. V. McNeely, and family In Moorea vllle. Mr. and Mrs W. A. Pax ton. of Jacksonville, Fla., are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tudor N Hall and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hall's son-in-law, Russell Paxton, who has been with the Marines on maneuvers in Labrador for the past six weeks, is here for a few days' visit before be and Mrs. Paxton, the former Mtaa Sara Hall, return to Camp Le jeune.
