Taylor Ejected P.TA. Leader Walter Taylor, of Holly Springs, last Thursday night was elected president of the East Franklin P. T. A. at a meeting featured by a student Easter program. Others named to serve with him during the 1954-55 year are Mrs. John Smith, vice-president, Mrs. Kenneth Neal, secretary, and Charlie Sutton, treasurer. Attendance at the meeting was one of the largest in the history of the organization, it was reported. The program was presented by children from the fourth through the eighth grades. DOCTOR RETURNS Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Hemphill have returned to Highlands from winter Park, Fla. The doctor has opened his office over the Highlands Drug Store. Work will begin at 8 a. m. Persons having relatives burled in the cemetery are asked to help with the project, or send a representative. The grounds will be seeded and the graves leveled. Ladles are asked to bring a picnic lunch for serving at noon. New Art Gallery The new home of the High lands Art Gallery Is going up on Main Street. Designed by William W. Dodge, Jr., of Ashevllle, the 112 by 35 building is being constructed by the Dlllard Construction Com pany, Sylva, for the owners, Arthur Trock and Morris Stone, of Miami, Fla. The building will have a main auction room, two offices, three rest rooms, and a storage room. The outside finish will be stone veneer with stucco panels and an all glass front. The opening date has not been decided. Locals Win 2 Franklin's Panthers racked up two easy victories over the Cherokee nine Friday and Tues day. Friday on the local diamond, the Panthers took charge 12 to 0. Moundsman Bobby Teague held the Indians to three sin gles. Tuesday In Cherokee, the lads won IS to 3. Tallent started on the mound, turning the hurl ing chores over to Teague In the sixth inning. This (Thursday) afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Panthers meet Robblnsville on the local dia mond. EVENING OF FUN-EATS A triple-barreled evening of eating and entertainment is planned Saturday, April 24, at the Cartoogechaye School. LEROY ROPER FETED AT SHOWER Mrs. Jack Canaler and Mrs. Albert Ramsey, Jr., honored Mrs. Leroy Roper with a miscellan eous shower at the Ramsey home Friday afternoon. Spring flowers In pink and white were used for decoration. Punch and cookies were served. Forty guests called during the afternoon. Mrs. Roper Is the former Miss Edelene Carter, of El Paso, Tex. She and Lt. Roper were married March 26 In El Paso and are now visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Roper. At the end of their visit here, they will go to Fort Bliss, Tex., where Lt. Roper will be on the staff and faculty of the antialr craft and guided mlssle branch of the artillery school. ? SHIRLEY DUNLAP WEDS JOHN CROCKETT Mrs. Shirley Hobson Dunlap, daughter of Mrs. Percy Carson Hobson, of Atlanta, Oa., and the late Mr. Hobson, and John Stuart Ramsey Crockett, son of Mrs. Marie R. Crockett, of Madlsonvllle, Ky., formerly of Franklin, and the late Mr. Crockett, of Madlsonvllle, Ky., formerly of Franklin, and the late Mr. Crockett, we$e married at the North Avenue Presbyter ian Church In Atlanta, Ga., Wednesday afternoon, April 7. The ceremony was performed by the pastor of the church, the Rev. Crow, In the presence of the two families and a few close friends. Prior to the ceremony, the church organist played a pro gram of wedding music, and a soloist sang "The Lord's Pray er". The church was decorated with white gladioli and chrysan themums. The bride and groom entered the church together. The bride wore a navy suit with navy and white accessories and an orchid corsage. The bride's mother was at tired in a blue dress with which she wore a corsage of white carnations. The groom's mother was dress ed in black with a corsage of pink carnations. Immediately following the cere mony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's mother. Mrs. Crockett has been em ployed In the accounting de partment of the Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co., In Atlanta. Mr. Crockett is a graduate of Waynesville Township High School, Waynesville, attended Davidson College, Davidson, and is a graduate of Georgia School of Technology, Atlanta. He is now an engineer with Chance Vaught Aircraft Company in Dallas, Tex. He served in World War II and the Korean War. The couple will live at 222 N. W. 7th St., Grand Prairie, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Reld Patty and son, Reid, Jr., of Burlington, will spend Easter with Mrs. Pat ty's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Fox, of Cullasaja. Mrs. E. A. Rhoades, of North Wilkesboro, has been spending several months with her daugh ter, Mrs. E. R. Fox, of Cullasaja. Mrs. Rhoades will return to her home Sunday.
