If adults en joy a variety of foods, children assume the same reaction. The parents' habits, likes and dis likes, become those of the chil dren. Reject one kind of food and the child will do likewise, If for no other reason than the "rejection" makes him feel npore grown up. Knowledge of how to apply science of nutrition to our daily living is important. A well-bal anced diet containing a variety of nourishing foods helps make for healthier, happier living. BUILD GOOD EATING HAB ITS ? After good, nourishing food is prepared and attractive ly served, the final step is a pleasant, congenial atmosphere. The family should come to the table calm and relaxed, happy and cheerful. Mealtime is a good time to chat with children about play and school. It is a time to dis cuss things of mutual interest to all members of the family. to said estate will please make immediate settlement. This 19 day of February, 1954. J. A. HAWKINS, Administrator Mil? 6tc? JJ? A15 * State College Answers Timely Farm Questions Q What makes some of my chickens lame? A. There are several possible reasons (or lameness. In some cases it is possible that a col lapse of certain nerve centers has occurred, probably related to breeding. Such lameness is not contagious. In very young chickens rickets (improper bone formation) will cause a limp. This condition is dietary and can be quickly corrected. An other cause of lameness is pex osis (slipped tendons). Perosis usually appears in birds six weeks of age or older. It is probably caused by a lack of mineral balance in the diet. Then there is leukosis, which is caused by a tiny germ that is transmissible from bird to bird. Affected birds should be destroyed. Q. How can I cut my dairy production costs? A. There are many ways, but your best bet right now is to cut down on the protein in the grain feed ration. Now that pas tures are growing the protein content in the feed should be cut to 10 per cent. To keep cows from getting thin on pas ture a ration of 600 pounds of oats and 400 pounds of com TRUCK IT EASY! ?*?, ?;eT Only FORD goes so for to keep drivers happy on the job, to help em get jobs done slicker and quicker- and cut operating costs! C and cob meal plus steamed bone meal and salt should be fed. Q. How does tobacco blue mold spread? j A. The fungus parasite that causes blue mold produces two types of spores or seed-like ' bodies. One type has a protec tive coating that allows it to live over in the soil of the seed beds where the disease has oc curred. It can start the disease the following year if the old bed Is used. The other type spore or seed-like body is pro duced by the moldy growth vis ible on the underside of diseas ed leaves. Single spores cannot be seen with the naked eye, but when massed together in countless thousands they can be seen as the moldy, bluish mass known as blue mold. When ripe or mature these spores drift like smoke in air currents to healthy plants nearby or even miles away. Henry On Army Duty In Germany In 'Ivy' Group Pvt. James R. Henry, son of J. R.
