The tarlde is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. W. R. Gibson, of Franklin, and the groom Is the son of Mrs. M. H. Wooten, of Cleveland, and the late Mr. Wooten. The Rev. Rommie Pierce per i formed the double-ring cere mony. Mrs. Bobby Sappenfleld, or ganist, presented a program of I wedding music. The couple entered the church together. Ilr THE COOKING CORNER | Favorit& Recipes | Of MACON WOMEN li 1 BROWN SUGAR BROWNIES 2/3 Cups shortening (butter or margarine) 2>/? Cups brown sugar (1 lb.) 3 Eggs 2 2/3 Cups sifted all purpose flour 2 Tsp. baking powder 1 Tsp. salt 1 Cup walnuts (corsely chop ped) 1 Package (6 oa.) semi-sweet chocolate Start oven at 350 degrees and grease a lOVi x 15V2 baking pan. Melt shortening in sauce pan. Just to melting point. Stir in brown sugar; cool slightly, then beat in the eggs, one at a, time, until mixture is smooth. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together and stir into brown sugar mixture. Now add nuts and chocolate. Pour into greased baking pan. Bake 25 minutes. When almost cool cut into bars 1x3 inches. (These keep nicely for overseas pack ages). Mrs. George Gibson (Iotla Club) ATTEND MEETING Four executives of the Dixie- ! Home Store here went to a district managers' meeting at the George Vanderbilt Hotel in Asheville Monday night. Attend ing from here were Roy Moore, 1 store manager; J. L. McKee, market manager; Raymond Ledford, grocery manager; and Bill Vanhook, produce manager. Plans For Year Outlined At Cullasaja P. T. A. Meeting The Cullasaja Parent-Teach er Association plans to have a drinking fountain Installed on the school playground and has decided to hold a "fall festival", next month, in place 6f the usual Hallowe'en carnival. The decisions were reached at the association's first meet ing of the year, held at the school September 13. Committees for the year were announced by the new presi dent, Fred Corbln. Principal Weaver Shope, Bill Hlgdon and Wiley Clark were named as a committee to be responsible for installation of the fountain. ' Mr. Shope summarized the association's accomplishments last year ? accreditation of the school, new books In the libra ry, getting the state to blacktop the road around the school, Im provements in the lunchroom, the required maps and globes Tor each classroom, and Instal lation of the new bell signal sysUtn.
