Furr has return ed home after visiting her son, Dr. W. E. Furr, Jr., and fam ily, In Miami, Fla., far a month. She also visited her daughter, Mrs. Joe Putnam, and family, In Cherryvllle, before returning to Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Pattlllo and two daughters, Lydla and Barbara, and Carolyn Maness, all of Bryson City, visited rela tives here Sunday. Fred S. Sloan, of Raleigh, spent the week-end here with his mother, Mrs. W. W. Sloan, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dowdle and children are spending a vacation in Daytona Beach, Fla. Thomas Furman Corbin has returned to Columbus, Ohio, to resume his studies at Ohio State University, after a short vacation here with his family. Earl Moses left this week for N. C. State College, Raleigh, where he is doing graduate work in engineering. Miss Freda Slier left this week for Washington, D. C., after spending some time here with her brother, Allen Slier, and family. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Ingram, of Detroit, .Mich., were in Franklin last week visiting rela tives and friends. Dr. and Mrs. R. P. McCutch eon have returned to Nashville, Tenn., after spending some time at their summer home on Way ah Road. Mrs. Pearl Holland recently left to make her home In Berea, Ky., where her daughter is at- ! tending college. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Starrette had as week-end guests Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Miss Ann Teague, a student at Duke University School ot Nursing, Durham, is spending a week's vacation with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Teague. Miss Barbara Gribble left last week for Charlotte to teach in the Mecklenburg County Schools'. Her sister, Miss Joyce Gribble, accompanied her and will attend high school there this winter. Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel, of Charlotte Court House, Va., spent a recent week-end here visiting Mr. Daniel's sister, Mrs. W. W. Sloan, Sr. Lt. and Mrs. Fred Henry left last week for Ellerbe, where they will visit Lt. Henry's par ents for a few days before go ing to Edenton, where he is stationed.
