Hardware Furniture FRANKLIN, NORTH CAROLINA Dedication Sunday For Baptist Church New Prentiss Baptist Church Dedication of the new Prentiss Baptist Church will be held Sun day. At 11 a. m., the Rev. C. T. Tay lor, associational missionary, will deliver the dedicatory sermon. Lunch will be served on the grounds at noon and special sing ing and talks by the former pastors will feature the afternoon pro gram. Started in 1952 about two hun dred yards east of the old church n the North Skeenah section, total cost of the building is $16, )00. Construction costs were paid is building progressed and only i very small loan was made, ac cording to church officials. At present, there are no outstanding debts against it. The new brick church has a large auditorium, six classrooms, and a central heating system. The grounds have been landscaped and a drive circles the building. Organized in 1914, services were held in an old store building while a church was being erected near the Prentiss railroad station. Prin cipal organizers were James Car penter, D. C. Stockton, Judson Stiles, and John A. T. Sanders. In 1928 the church moved to the North Skeenah section. Present membership in the church is 139. The Rev. Claude Ledford is pas tor. Crawford return ed to Franklin Monday, after spending some time with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Crawford, in Raleigh. John D. Gregory, of Pontiac, Mich., were here last week visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Gregory, of Franklin, Route 2, and his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace, of Franklin, Route I. and other relatives. Mr. Olln McClure, of Detroit, Mich., accompanied Mr. Gregory to Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Peterson, of St. Petersburg, Fla., arrived Fri day to spend several weeks at their summer home here, "Furlow Springs". Mr, Peterson Is vice-pres ident of the dally newspaper, St. Petersburg Independent. Mr. and Mrs. J. Bryan Ray, their daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Rich ardson, and her two sons, all of Charlotte, visited Mr. Ray's moth er, Mrs. Kile Ray, hU sister, Miss Viola Ray, and his brother, Oran Ray, over the week-end.
