Miss Hall Takes Superintendent Post In Harnett Miss Lela Moore Hall, former case worker with the Macon Coun ty Department of Public Welfare, Is now superintendent of public welfare In Harnett County, It has been learned here. Miss Hall, daughter of Mrs. D. M. Hall, of Sylva and Cullo whee, was with the local depart ment from August, 1948 to Septem ber, 1951, when she resigned to enroll at Tulane University to get her degree as master of social work. After two years at Tulane, she went to Charlotte as a senior case worker supervisor in the Mecklenburg County Department of Public Welfare. Miss Hall is living in Lillington. Homecoming Ceremony Set At Sloan's Chapel An all-day homecoming celebra tion is set foi- Sunday, September 16, at Sloan's Chapel. The program will begin about 10 a. m. and dinner will be serv ed on the grounds. Preaching and singing are planned. The public is invited. Lunsford, Humphreys Talks At Cullasaja By MISS MARIE JENNINGS (Community Reporter) Chester Humphreys, of Tampa. Fla., was the guest speaker at the September 4 meeting of the Cullasaja Rural Community De velopment Organization. He gave a short talk on his work at McDill Air Force Base, where he is a chief engineer. Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys are vacationing at their home on Nickajack. With the county fair coming in the near future, most of the business discussion centered a round plans for a booth. The fol lowing were appointed to work on the booth committee: Mrs. Elma Russell. Mrs. Leona Sadler, Mrs. Bessie Stiwinter, Mrs. Grace Rogers, Fred Rogers, Gordon Gib son, Charlie Holland, and John Bryson. Anyone interested in help ing with some of the work may get in touch with any of the com mittee members. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Carter, who have completed a new house in the community, have moved and are welcomed into the community. Macon Among Lowest In Farm Tenancy Macon County is one of the five lowest counties in the state in farm tenancy with 6.2 per cent, according to an article appearing in the summer issue of Research and Farming, publication of the Agricultural Experiment Station I at N. C. State College. The article points out that the i eastern portion of the state has the highest tenancy rate. Avery County, with 4.9, has the lowest percentage. The other three and their figures are Alexander. '5.1; Mitchell, 5.6; and Jackson. 6.2. of Atlanta, were recent weekend guests of Mrs. Lunsford's father. Luther Jacobs, at his home in the Kyle community. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Gravlee, of Lenoir, were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. StarrAte. Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Keener and small son.
