Haney. 70. a retired grocery store merchant and native of this county, died at his home on Franklin, Route 3. Decembei 23 following a short illness. Funeral services for Mr. Hanev ^ were conducted on. the 25th at Aquone by the Rev. Clyde Mon | teith. Born March 12, 1887, Mr. Haney was the son of the late David and Mrs. Elizabeth Haney. He was married Dec. 14. 1905, to Miss | Jane Cope, of this county, who survives. Other survivors include a j brother, Mark Haney, of Nanta l hala. and five sisters, Mrs. Parlee ' Hunter, of Belmont. Mrs. Malisa Wilson, of Andrews, Mrs. Dona Bryant, of Lexington, Mrs. Laura j Chambers, of Lindale. Ga., and Mrs. Alice Neal, of Aquone. Pallbearers were R. L. Cope, i Ben Cope, Sheridan Evans, A! j bert Evans. Andrews Cope, and j Delmer Cope. Potts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. HA K LAY STEWAKT (Community Reporter) A Christmas worship program was held at the Patton Methodist Church Sunday night, Dec. 22. with Mrs. L. M. Patton and Mrs Porter Duncan in charge. Afterwards, a tree and treats were enjoyed and a "love otter ing" of $159 was placed under the tree by those present for the church building fund. A Christmas scene was made by i members of the Patton 4-H Cluo, | under the leadership of Mrs. Ted Blaine and Mrs. Harley Stewart. It was erected near the home of Harley Moore Stewart. The scene consisted pf a Christmas card with lighted candles wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas". The Patton church, in coopera tion with different organizations in the community, prepared and presented Christmas baskets to the shut-ins of the community. On Christmas Eve. 32 members of the Patton M. Y. F? with Mr. and Mrs. Porter Duncan and John D. Wells as leaders, toured the community singing Christmas carols.
