Miss Brenda Cunningham has been chosen as a member of the Teen Board of FARM JOURNAL maga zine, according to Miss Gertrude Dleken, editor of the Parmer's Wife section of the publication. Miss Cunningham, 18. Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Cunningham, of Franklin. Route 1. She Is one of 100 outstanding teen-agers from throughout the country who comprise the group. The 100 girls selected each year serve a a sounding board for the teen department known as "Up In Polly's Room.' The board helps provide story Ideas and reports on whats new In members' schools and communities. Several 1958 Teen Board members have been featured in the magazine. Teen Board members are select ed by FARM JOURNAL, which has a national readership of more than 3,100,000 subscribing fam ilies. The girls are chosen on the basis of leadership in 4-H club and Future Homemakers work, and other rural community programs. Among Miss Cunnnigham's ac tivities at Franklin High School are captain of the "B" squad cheerleaders, song leader of 4-H, sophomore honor student, mem ber of the homecoming court, and Miss Cunningham participant in the United Nations Study and Speaking Contest. Miss Cunningham was selected as the outstanding 4-H Club girl in Macon County (1956-57), and she was the district winner in recreation and rural arts for 4-H for two consecutive years. AT COUNCIL MEET - 4-H Clubbers Plan For Week By PATSY CORBIN Council Reporter Planning the local celebration ! of ' "National 4-H Club Week" in March featured the February 7 j meeting of the Macon County 4-H ! Council at the Agricultural Build . ing. Also, a skit entitled, "Wishes Do Come True", was given by the Union Senior 4-H Club. A short devotional was presented by Jean Dills. Peggy Dills, president, presided. During the "National 4-H Club Week" discussion the group planned to begin working on the following projects concerning the observance : 1. Newspaper articles. 2. Radio programs. 3. A window display in a store window In town (county council is in charge). 4. Talent show, March 6, at East Franklin School. The blue ribbon talent will be selected at each club this month and will enter the county show. Recreation will follow the planned program. Admission will be for adults, 35c; children, 25c. 5. Place cards in restaurants during week. The Highalnds and Union Senior Clubs will distribute these cards. 6. The group decided to use the following theme during week : "4-H Members Pledge to Help Keep Ma con County Clean". Posters will be distributed in Franklin and Highlands February 28 and March 6.
