Ramblin' Around Cullasaja and Higdonville MISS MARIE JENNINGS Staff Correspondent Sorrells Preaches Despite Sunday's driving snow, a good attendance was had at Higdonville Baptist Church's morning worship service at which the Rev. Paul Sorrells preached. Mr. Sorrells, who attends Baptist Seminary at Wake Forest, is a former pastor at Higdonville and is presently the pastor at Burn ingtown Baptist Church. No other services were held at Higdonville Sunday. Church Items Sunday school was held at Sugarfork isaptist Church Sunday but preaehing services were can celled so the pastor, the Rev. Jar vis Underwood, who lives in Waynesville, and other membeis of the congregation who had sev eral miles to travel could get home before the roads became too haz ardous. The Cullasaja Assembly of God Church also cancelled preaching services Sunday morning after the Sunday School hour because of the weather. Fellowship Supper Saturday night, a fellowship supper for the Franklin Methodist Circuit was held at the Bethel Methodist Church. | MEMO FROM | J. W. Bethel, Clark's Chapel, and Hickory Knoll were represented, with about 25 present for the supper meeting. These fellowship ^uppcr meet ing are held monthly at one of the churches in the circuit. To Have Conference The quarterly conference will be held at Bethel Methodist Church on Sunday, March 6. There will be morning services and lunch will be served at noon in the church basement. Meeting Set The Cullasaja Community De velopment Organization will meet Tuesday night, March 1, at the school. Members are urged to at tend. Everyone selling black pep per or vanilla for the organization is asked to brine i" the money i collected from sales. Anyone inter ested in buying black pepper or vanilla flavoring from the organ izations is asked to contact Elma Russell. Meeting Postponed The meeting of Higdonville' Home Demonstration, club, set for last Thursday, was cancelled be cause of bad weather. An all-day meeting will be held in March at the home of Mrs. Ann Berry to make up the February meeting and for tho March meeting. \ f Reminder! Higdonville Community Develop ment Organization will meet Thursday, March 3. The meetinp, will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Bryson, Jr., be ginning at 7:30. Quilting Bre Today (Thursday), the Culla saja Home Demonstration Club is having a quilting in the basement of Bethel Methodist Church. Sev eral women from Bethel church and some of the Higdonville home demonstration club women are helping. The group will enjoy a covered dish luncheon at noon. Personals Robert R. Esies, wno has been very ill at his home, was reported Monday to be showing some im provement. Mrs. Britt Bowman and children spent the week end in Sylva visit ing Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Woods. Pvt. Branch Buchanan, who is stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Md., spent the week end here with his wife, the former Miss Evelyn Blanton, and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Buchanan, in Franklin. Lee Estes and family, of Green's Creek, visited Mr. Estes' brother, Robert R, Estes. and Mrs. Estes Monday. Recent visitors here from Alex andria. Va., were Mr. and Mrs. Mack Pulton. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Pritchard Peek, Mrs. Myrtle F. Keener, and Mr. and Mr;. T. T. Henderson, staying about a week. Paul E. Jennings spent Tuesday and Wednesday of last Week in Charlotte on business. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. T. ' Henderson this past week end i were their Son. 1st Lt. John C. Henderson, and Mrs. Henderson and their two children. They were enroute to" Ft. Rucker. Ala., where Lt. Henderson will take 10 months' flight training with the Army. He has been in the Army Reserve for the past few years. They have been living in Greensboro, where Mr. Henderson was associated with the Western Electric Company. Friends and neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Arnold will bo happy to know they are much im proved after being confined to their home with flu.
