' RambHn' Around Cullasaja and Higdonville MISS MARIE JENNINGS Staff Correspondent (Unavoidably emitted last week) Church News Higdonville Baptist Church had a baptismal service Sunday morn ing, October 2, following Sunday school. The Rev. Judson Hall, pas tor, officiated, and Harry Moses, deacon, assisted him. "Promotional Day" was observ ed with six being promoted in the Sunday school. Four children were promoted from the Primary Class to the Junior Class and they were each presented a Bible by a friend of the church. Two were promoted from the Junior Class to the Intermediate Class. Last Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Ernest King, pastor of the Cullasaja Assembly of God Church, baptized five candidates at services held near the church. The club worked on Its booth for the county fair and -made out the yearly report. The eighth grade has changed its plaris to attend the Cherokee Indian Fair in favor of a trip to our own Macon County Fair. Feted At Party Little Keith Teague celebrated his first birthday Friday, Septem ber 30, with the help of about 10 little friends at a party glveft by his mother, Mrs. Vic Teague, at their home. Keith's grandmother. Mrs. Woodrow Teague. brought his birthday cake with all the decora tions and he and his guests en Joyed eating it. He received many birthday presents. Jr.. and their small baby just recently moved into the Homer Stewman house, which Mrs. Moses purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Willis Teem. M;s. Willis Teem and Mrs. Grover ' Wyatt were hostesses and served refresh ments to the guests. Approximately 40 attended and Mrs. Moses was the recipient of many useful gifts. Personals Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Baker, of Tampa, Fla., spent from Monday to Wednesday of last week with their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred HolVey, at Higdonville. Among those from this section attending all-day services at Yel low Mountain Baptist Church Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Louin Young, Major Higdon, Dorothy Higdon, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Moses and children. Mr. and Mrs. George Moses, and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Berry. 'Mr. and Mrs. Paul Seay had as guests this week end their daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Banks, of Asheville. The young couple was married Friday in Asheville. Mrs. Banks is the former Miss Peggy Seay. A2/C Bobby Joe Houston has completed his enlistment with the U. S. Air Force and he and Mrs. Houston and their two children have moved into one of the Gib son cottages. They have been liv ing at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. Preston Clark and his bride, the former Miss Sharon Dills, daugh- ] ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dills. Sr., have moved Into one of the Worn ark cottages. Mr and Mrs. John H. Pecder grass, of Clarkesvllle. Oa.. spent the week end with Mrs. Pender grass' parents. Mr. and Mis. Claude Arnold. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Moore visit ed relatives In Olenvllle Sunday and Mr Moore's mother. Mrs. J. W. Moore, returned home with them for a visit. The Rev. Ernest King and the Rev. Fred N. Sorrells are attend ing a ministers' institute at Greensboro this week. Week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bennett were Mr. Ben nett's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. ajid Mrs. R D. Saffles, of Cleveland, Tenn. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rup penthal several days last week were Mrs. Ruppenthal's brother and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Tra vis Oaines and three children, of , Bra-den Ion, Fla. Mr. and Mrs, Grady Wooten and two sons were here from Gas tonia for the week end to visit Mrs. Wooten's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred N. Crisp. Mrs. Oscar Arnold is a patient at Angel Hospital, where she re cently underwent surgery. Lyle Estes had an appendec tomy operation last Friday at Angel Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Henderson spent a few days last week at Enterprise, Ala., visiting their son and his family, 1st Lt. and Mrs. John C. Henderson and two daughters While away. Mr. ? and Mrs. Henderson also made a trip to Panama City, and Ft. Walton. Fla. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wood, of Athens, Tenn., recently visited Mrs. Wood's aunt, Mrs. Nora H. Moses, and Mrs. Wood's cousins, Mrs. Fred Wood, of Pine Grove, and Ed Crisp, of Walnut Creek. Mrs. Wood is the daughter of the late J. T. and Addie Crisp Hol land, and this was her first trip to North Carolina in 42 years. Miss Marie Jennings and Pat Cable vyent to Max Patch Sunday afternoon.
