NOTICE A written petition signed by a ma- ority of the governing board of South* ern Pines School District in the County of Moore, and duly approved by the County Board of Education of Moore County having been presented to the Board of Commissioners of Moore County asking for an election on the question of the enlargement of the boundary lines of said Southern Pines School District so as to include in said Southern Pines School District the contiguous territory described and referred to in this petition and it ap pearing to the board upon considera tion thereof that said petition is in due form of law and that the peti tioner is entitled to the relief prayed for in the petition, it is hereby order ed by the Board of Commissioners of Moore County that an election be and the same is hereby ordered to be held in the new territory sought to be add ed to said Southern Pines School Dis trict, on the question of the enlarge ment of the boundary lines of said Southern Pines School District, so as to include the contiguous territory de scribed in said petition, as provided by law, and said election is hereby or dered to be held upon said question on Tuesday, the 19th day of October, 1926. M. N. Sugg’s residence is hereby designated as the polling place and M. N. Sugg is appointed as registrar and D. C. Lemons and B. Weathar- spoon are appointed poll-holders for that part of said new territory sought to be made a part of Southern Pines School District heretofore known as a part of Aberdeen School District, which is described and bounded as fol lows, to wit: Beginning at a stake in the Mineral Springs township line [ where said township line crosses I the old Morganton road; thence j South 2” West 6500 feet to a I stake, thence South 77 East 26,400 feet to a stake in the Hoke I County line; thence on said Hoke i County line North 44 1-2 East j 3200 feet to a stake in said Hoke I County line in the center of the . old Morganton road bed; thence j following the various courses of I said old Morganton road to the I first station. An entire new registration of the qualified voters in said new territory sought to be added to Southern Pines School District is hereby ordered in the respective portions of said new territory hereinbefore designated and it is ordered that notice of said elec tion be given by publication of this order at least three times in the Sand hill Citizen and The Pilot, weekly newspapers published and circulated in said territory, the first publication to be made at least thirty days before said election and that notice of said new registration be given by the publication of this order in said Sandhill Citizen and The Pilot at least twenty days before the close of the registration book for said elec tion as hereinafter more particularly designated. The books will be open for registration of voters in the por tions of the new territory sought to be made a part of Southern Pines School District hereinbefore describ ed respectively, on the 18th day of September, 1926, at nine o’clock A. M. and will remain open from said date between the hours of nine A. M. and sunset upon each day until and including the 9th day of October, 1926 at sunset of said day, and said books will likewise be open for the registration of voters during the times aforesaid at the respective vot ing places heretofore named for the respective territories heretofore de scribed on the following Saturdays during said registration period, Sat urday, September 18th; Saturday,, September 25th; Saturday, October 2nd; Saturday, October 9th. At said election those who are in favor of the enlargement of the boundary lines of Southern Pines School District so as to include in said district the con- tigious territory hereinbefore describ ed so as to make said Southern Pines School District a territory, the boun daries of which after enlargement are as hereinafter described, shall vote a ticket on which shall be printed or written the words “For Local Tax,” and those who oppose the same shall vote a ticket on which shall be printed or written the words “Against Local Tax.’’ At the close of said election the respective registrars and poll- holders of the respective territories aforesaid shall count, canvass and ju dicially determine the result of said election in their said respective vot ing precincts and make returns there of to the Board of Commissioners of Moore County. Said election shall in other respects be held in accordance with the law governing general elec tions. If a majority of the qualified voters in the respective voting pre cincts hereinbefore described in such new territory shall vote “For Local Tax,” the different portions of said new territory as aforesaid set forth shall become a part of said Southern Pines School District and subject to all the levies of tax authorized, re quired and provided for Southern Pines School District as it now exists and thereupon Southern Pines School District shall be composed of and constitute the territory particularly described and bounded as follows, to- wit: Beginning at a stake in the Mineral Springs Township- line where said township line crosses the old Morganton Road and run ning thence S'. 2 W. 6500 feet to a stake; thence S. 77 E. 26,400 feet to a stake in the Hoke County line; thence with the Hoke County line in a North Easterly direction about 21,995 feet to a stake in Carroll’s Branch where it crosses Hoke County line; thence N. 56 1-2 W. 15,100 feet to a stake in the center of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad about 120 feet from the South West end of Fleet Sid ing; thence North 14 East 5963 feet to a stake; thence N. 46 1-2 W. 1888 feet to a stake on the South bank of Mill Creek above the intersection of said Mill Creek with McDeeds Creek; thence up said Mill Creek as it meanders to a stake a corner of Pinehurst . School District in the head of Mill Creek; thence South 21 West 11,- 050 feet to the Morganton Road, a corner of the Pinehurst School District line; thence with the old Morganton Road North 80 W. 3000 feet to the beginning.
