Page Eight THE PILOT, Southern Pines and Aberdeen, Nbrth Carolina WILSON C'OUNTV ABC BOARD EFFECTS CHANGES For the second time in a week, the Wilson County ABC Board, which op erates the Pinehurst and Southern Pines stores, effected an important change in its organization by abolish ing the post of supervisor of stores and substituting an inspector. O. A. Glcver, who has been super visor of the stores for the last year, resigned to make way for the newly created post. < B. J. Williams, chairman of the Wilson board, explained that opera tion of the stores had become so smooth that a supervisor is needed no longer, ‘‘You can't drop a bottle and break it in any one of the stores in the county,” he said, “without the office here knowing about it a few hours later.” C. M. Gold, formerly manager of the Wilscn ABC store, was appointed inspector. His job will be to check up on each store in the county every day and make a detailed report to the ABC office and the board. The ABC board made the first change in its organization about a week ago when it turned over com plete authority to enforce the liquor law in Wilson county to the sheriff and chief of police, abolishing the post of special ABC investigator. pwr* A new dancing star, a potential rival to Eleanor Powell, the little girl whose flying feet “wowed” the great Bill Robinson, and then went on and wcwed Jack Benny and Rudy Vallee, and Roxy audiences, and Par amount scouts, at last has a spot where she can take the rest of the country by storm. The girl is pert Eleanore Whitney, 18, who has the leading part opposite Robert Cummings in the high-tempo swing musical, “Three Cheers For Love”, the attraction at the Southern i „-ciock! The Army No. 5 CCC outfit troun ced Southern Pines in much the same manner last Sunday afternoon as errors and timely hits enabled them to score 13 runs as against 5 for the visitors. Southern Pines went into the sixth inning on the top end of a 4-3 score, but then proceeded to go to pieces afield and hand the army boys six runs and the ball game. A terrific home run by Wel- lons, CCC shortstop, featured the sixth inning uprising.
