Some find happiness in one way; some in another; and many never find it at all. Whatever road you may have been taking in your pursuit of happiness, may your fondest hopes be realised during this Christmas season of 194?. Plans Progress For County Farm Program in 1946 Farmers will have more leeway under the 1946 Agricultural Con servation Program in choosing the practices that they want to carry out on their farms, Joe A. Caddell Chairman of the Moore County AAA Committee, stated early this week. This year, program funds will be allocated to counties, as well as states, and it will be up to far mers and local AAA committee men to get all the conservation they can for the money they have available. Several important changes have been made in the 1946 program, Caddell pointed out. One change of importance is that no farm allowance will be established! this year. A Second innovation is that, to earn pay ment, practices to be completed under the program must have prior approval of the county com mittee. As in other years, AAA com mitteemen will consult with every farmer as to the plan for his farm and list the practices which he wishes to ,carry out for 1946. In approving plans, county commit teemen will give consideration to the needs of all farms in the coun ty in line with the amount of conservation money allocated tr the county. In Moore County, there is ur gent need for more lime, phos phate, and winter cover crops. The 1946 AAA program is being planned to emphasize practices to supply these needs. One particu lar feature available this year pro vides a payment of $3.50 per acre for the harvesting of seed. According to statements of Chairman Caddell, the sum of $54,471.00 has been allocated to assist Moore county farmers to carry out practices advocated un der the 1946 ACP program. Ap proximately $50,000.00 has been expended to assist the farmers of Moore county in following the 1945 program.
