Norik Carolina All Star Game Set For Sanford TOBACCO VOTE Farmers pf MPore county voted overwhelmingly in favor of the 10-cenls-pery The annual -Tobacco State League Ail Stat game has been set for Monday, J,uly 21, with Sanford designated as the play ing site because of its first place position at midnight, July 4. This year the plan will be dif ferent front last season’s wHten a team from the western part of tjie league met a team from the east. This year Sanford will play a picked team from the other seven in the loop. The players will be chosen by ballot by all the club m,anagers. The manager to op pose Sanford Pilot Zeb Harring ton in the second annual classic will also be chosen by ballot of the managers. These ballots have already been distributed by the league president, A. T. Moore. Because of Sanford’s' first place position, they could choose the site they wished and they chose their own grounds at Temple Park in Sanford. If the game is rained out- or for other reasons cannot be play ed the contest will be reeled off the following night. If played as scheduled, the 22nd will be an off day in the league. Jurors Drawn-For Superior Court To Begin Aag. 11 Fridjay, July 18, 1947. Arthur D. Frye Is Chain Gang Escapee The sheriff’s department has been notified to be on the look out for Arthur D. Frye, of Carth age, Rt. 3, reported by Richmond County law officials to hqve es caped from a chain gang in that county July 11. He was serving a 60-day sen tence on a bad check charge. Frye, who has a long court rec ord in this county, is in his forties, five feet eight and a half inches tall, with a large burn scar on his right cheek. His right knee has been brpken. He is dark haired, ruddy complexioned and weight is 155 pounds. Miss Nelson Injured As Car Turns Over Miss Ann Nelson, who as anes thetist at the Moore County hosr pital has assisted with many an accident case, landed in the hos pital herself Monday, with pain ful accident injuries.' With Miss Nelson at the wheel, her car went off the road between Pinehurst and Aberdeen as a tire blew out, and overturn ed. At the hospital it was found that Miss Nelson’s nose was bro ken, and she also sustained se vere cuts and abrasions.
