“Dare to be a Daniel, dare to
stand alone, dare to have a pur

known!” was the challenge hurl
ed at the 16 members of the
Vass-Lakeview High School
graduating class at the baccalau

ning in the school auditorium
with a large gathering present.
The speaker, the Rev. Wallace
L. Smarr of the First Baptist

a marked degree of earnestness,
drew much favorable comment.
Mrs. Kate Mclnnis was pianist

with Zellner’s “Meditation at
Evening” as a prelude. The
Senior Class, led by Mascots Ann
Boggs and Jimmy Mullinix,
marched in to the strains of
Mendelssohn’s “War March of
the Priest.” The high school cho
rus sang “Gloria Patri,” which
was followed by an invocation
by the Rev. Fant Steele and two
more numbers by the chorus,
“Jacob’s Ladder” and “Thanks
Be to God.” Six girls and six
boys of the chorus sang “Oh Mas
ter, Let Me Walk With Thee.”
Mrs. W. E. Gladstone directed.
Supt. John McCrummen wel
comed the assemblage, announc
ed additional events of the com
mencement season, and intro
duced the speaker. The Rev. Mr.
Steele gave the benediction, fol
