o THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1959 JACKSON SPRINGS NEWS Blanchard-Grahami In the Amity Presbyterian Church in Charlotte Miss Julia Mae Graham was married Sat urday at 4 o’clock in the after noon to John William Blanchard. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Edgar Greiham of Jackson Springs and the bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Fred Blanchard of Route 2, Burlington. Officiating at the ceremony ' were the Rev. Stuart A. Ritchie, minister of the Amity Church, and the Rev. Leland A. Richard son, cousin of the bride and min ister of Myrtle Grove Presbyte rian Church. Music was present ed by Earl Wentz, organist, and Mrs. Robert Sutton, cousin of the bride-groom, from Chapel Hill, Vical soloist. Given in marriage by her fath er, Miss Graham had as her maid of honor Miss Ruth Stone of Charlotte. C. Fred Blanchard was his son’s best man. Ushers were Wil liam E. Graham, Jr., of Char lotte, brother of the bride; Coy ®3avid Faucette and Clarence Richard McIntyre of Burlington, brothers-in-law of the bride groom; and Gordon Bowers of Graham. The bride’s cousin, Os car Richardson, Jr., of Jackson Springs served as the bride’s page and Mrs. Stuart Ritchie of Charlotte directed the wedding. The bride wore a chapel length gown of white lace over taffeta with push up sleeves and a portrait neckline. Her only or nament was a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Her shoulder length veil of nylon il lusion was attached to a velvet headpiece with simulated orange blossoms at the temples. She carried a white Fleur d’Amour orchid mounted on her childhood ^ible. The bride’s attendant wore an afternoon dress of French blue lace with a, matching hat. She carried a colonial bouquet of mixed summer flowers. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Graham chose a dress of periwinkle blue lace with pink accessories and a purple orchid. Mrs. Blanchard, the groom’s mother, wore a navy blue lace dress with matching accessories and a purple orchid. Following the ceremony the couple greeted guests in the church vestibule. Following a wedding trip to unannounced points, the couple will spend the summer in Boone where the bride will be a visiting instructor in the Department of Library Science at Appalachian State Teachers College. In the fall they will be at home in Char lotte. For traveling the bride chang ed to a summer suit of blue silk shantung with navy accessories and a white hat. She wore the or chid which had been lifted from her Bible. The bride was graduated from Flora Macdonald College and re ceived her Master of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina. She has held positions in the Tabor City, Aberdeen, and Chapel Hill High Schools^ She is presently librarian in the Her bert Spaugh Junior High School in Charlotte and is a member of Alpha Delta Kappa honorary sor ority for women teachers. The bridegroom is a graduate of Elon College where he was a member of Alpha Pi Delta fra ternity. This summer, he will re ceive his Master’s degree from Appalachian State Teachers Col lege in Boone. He has held positions as' a science teacher in Aberdeen ■High School and is assistant prin cipal of the E. M. Holt High School in Alamance County. Elizabeth Ann Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Clark, graduated Cum Laude. Susan Currie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Currie, and Mrs. Nancy Ritter Craven, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Ritter, were also members of the graduating class. New life has come to the com munity with the arrival of Del ano Hicks, W. E. Fay and Jerry, of Ra leigh were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Carpenter, Sr. Mrs. Lang Hale of Fayetteville is spending some time with her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Sessoms, and Mr. Sessoms. Mrs. Adelaide Schnell went to Greensboro on Friday for her daughter Harriett, who has com pleted her sophomore year at WCUNC. . Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Collins spent last weekend in Rocky Mount with Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard Manning, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Collins. mer. Clifford, a student at State College, was a weekend guest of Mac Mills. Otis Boroughs and Eugene Blaker are at home from High Point College. Cara Ann Poole has received her diploma from Woman’s College and is at home. Martha Currie is home from Flora Macdonald College. Weekend guest of M. A. Clark was his granddaughter, “Ginny” Barter, student at Duke Univer sity. Following examinations this week, Ginny will return to her Ihonm at Little Neck, Long Island, Mrs. Sallie Clark, who has been at her home here, suffered a heart attack Frday morning and is now a patient at Rich mond County Memorial Hospital in Rockingham. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Leavitt and house guests visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks in Albemarle Sun day, Mr. and Mrs. John Pickier and daughter of Albemarle spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Carpenter, Sr. Jeff Mills is leaving Wednes day for Cherry Grove Beach for seyeral days. He will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Cadwall- ader Benedict and Chris. Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Cleary and son Michael left Wednesday for a month’s visit in the north. They will visit their daughter Judy at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and their son, Shaun Cleary, his wife and daughter Cheryl at Flushing, N. Y. They will also visit relatives in New Jersey and then go on a tour of New York state and on to Niagara Falls before returning home.
