G; Puckett, 65, at the West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Tuttle offi ciating. Mr. Puckett died Saturday in a Winston-Salem hospital after suffering a heart attack while having repair work done on his truck. His death was a shock to his family and friends since he had seemed in good health, hav ing spent Friday night with his daughter and family in the vicini ty of Winston-Salem. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora Puckett; eight daughters, Mrs. Willie Easte of Cana, Va., Mrs. Wade Puckett of West End; Mrs. Lindon Hall of Candor, Mrs. Heath Smith of Monroe, Mrs. Olin Gibson and Mrs. Tommy Griffin of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Parker Britt of Star, Mrs. Reid Freeman of Eagle Springs; five sons, Robert H. with the Navy in Norfolk, William, Sammy and James of the home, Charley of Candor and Sgt. James Olive with the Air Force in Denver, Colo.; his mother, Mrs. Ma.ior Puckett of West End; 30 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two broth ers, Herman of Ararat, Va.; and Otis of West End; and three sis ters, Mrs. Lizzie Guinn and Mrs. Agnes Harrell of Ararat, and Mrs. Hessie Harrell of Mount Airy. « 3 "V *' ’ Mrs. Andrews, Sister of Moore Residenis, Dies Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Chatham Coun ty for Mrs. Grace Poe Andrews, 64, sister of Will Poe of Southern Pines, Sandy Poe of Hallison and Robert Poe of Parkwood. Mrs. Andrews, of Route 1, Bear Creek, died Sunday at Moore Memorial Hospital. Burial was in the church cemetery. Other survivors are her hus band, Allen Andrews, a daughter, Mrs. Lydia McNeill and a son, Ed gar, both of Bear Creek; a grand daughter and two half-brothers, Bennie Phillips of Glendon and Clyde Phillips of Goldston. Ducks which feed underwater can be distinguished from surface f^ders by a close look at the hind toe. It is always lobed on the diving ducks. South ern Pines children have been getting swimming instruction at Aberdeen Lake, going there under supervision on the school activities bus. Bottom photo shows a recent morning’s group at the lake. At back, left, is John Williams who is in charge of the recreation program. At right is Louis Manning, St. Andrews College senior and swimming and water safety instructor. At Manning’s right is Dick Seymour, 1962 local high school graduate, who is assisting with recreation activities. The older boy at his right is Jerry Wilson, volunteer assistant. In top photo, the group in shallow water is playing a basketball geune that has proved popular with the youngsters. Poles with a rope divide the “court” and regular basketball nets on poles rise above the water at each end of the play area. Note ball in air at left, center. Manning is at left and Seymour is by the basket at right. This group for children 10 and older goes to the lake Monday, Wednesday and Friday morn ings, leaving from Memorial Field on S. Bennett St. at 9i30. Children 6 to 10 go to Aberdeen Friday afternoons at 2, leaving from the park block, back of town hall.
