Boy Scouts Report
Their Activities
Troop 27
Enoch Crisp, our Junior (Assist
ant ) Scoutmaster opened our
meeting last Tuesday by having
Bill Dudley read a few verses
from the Bible. James Pittman,
our scribe, led us in the Lord's
Prayer.
Mr. Matthews discussed plans
for going to Plymouth. On Wed
nesday we will march in the Har
vest Festival parade We were ad
vised that if our uniforms were
soiled from our Plymouth trip
to have them cleaned.
Mr. Jack Hogart was our
guest speaker for the evening. He
asked Mr. Matthews how many
boys we had in our troop. He was
told that the number was not def
inite yet as we are reorganizing
the troop and patrols. Mr. Ho
gart explained to us that a train
ing program would be held at
Camp Charles to help Patrol lead
ers understand what they were
to do. He said that the Explorers
would work with the troop, and
that already some programs have
been carried out for the Explor
ers. He also told us that the Boy
Scouts would take part in a Civil
Defense Plan but that this has
not been organized yet.
After much discussion Mr. Mat
thews told us to see the patrol
leaders and tell them if you want
to be in their patrols.
Joe Clayton, Tommy Cooke, and
James Pittman received certifi
cates for passing to second class.
We then closed the meeting
with the Scoutmaster's Benidic
tion.
