As we approach the June primar ies it begins to look as if Senator Overman will be given the nomina tion by a tremendously large ma jority. It appears now that it will, indeed, prove unfortunate for Mr. Brooks that he chose to make .the race against many friends throughout the state who would really like to sup port him under different circunv stances; but they feel that the state and nation is sorely in need of the experience and ability of Senator Overman during the period of recon struction which we are now facing. Some people wait until they are done to a turn, and then turn over to be done again. In reading many of the pointed paragraphs of the day we find them all there but the point. A secret remains a secret as long as a woman can find some one in whom to confide. Sure, the world is safe for democ racy, but democracy appears any thing but safe from tself.
