I lllhi thei Hinton nuildin hd Mr. Robinson's house add a great deal to Main street. There are now bo many automo biles in Elizabeth City that the peo ple thought it best to make new street laws, making everybody drive and hitch on the right side, and 1 think it a good idea, because there will not be so many accidents, but it is hard for our horses to get ac customed to turn the right way. One of the most attractive things I saw in Elizabeth City to beautify the twon was the many beautiful Canna LMlles growing, and in bloom In front of many homes, and around the public buildings. Another thing I noticed was the cleanliness of tlie town, even on the outsMrts th.; p oplo are Orowiii:; more partleiihir. TKe iervld whs conducted by I I kZSSQ To Country Subscribers: The increasing price of the paper on which your news is printed has cut into the publisher's profit to such an extent that newspapers all over the country have been compelled to suspend publi cation. The Advance hopes to be able to meet the situation but to do so is straining our resources almost to the limit. We have been in the" habit of carrying names of subscribers whose subscription has expired for a month or two in order to give them opportunity to renew without missing an issue of the paper, Lasweek we decided that we could no longer afford to do' this and we cut the name of every subscriber whose subscription is out from our list. If you missed your paper last Friday it means that according to our records your subscription has-expired. We are mailing you this paper to give you an explanation of our course and hope you will realize our position. If you wish to renew your subscription, The Advance is still $1,00 a year twice a week, or you can get it every day for $2.50. We have quite a number of subscribers whose subscription will expire the first of October. We suggest that they prepare to renew their subscription this week or next, J vWiWKB55Mltacc l,;ev. J. L.
