Many an automobile runs on bor rowed time. It's a poor advertiser that leaves out his advertisement. Most people appreciate a good joke—on the other fellow. Farmers, advocating farm relief; do not claim that Mellon. A good bit of news published now adays is not news. It is about time for some people to inquire, “where is w inter?" Pay your debts—thats good ad vice, doing it, that requires money. You can hardly hope to please everybody even when editing a newspaper. What has become of the “propa gandists” we used to hear so much about. Well, one thing certain, when a man suicides it is his last perfor mance. Don't forget to beautify Ply mouth by taking care of your own premises. Life is made up of wishing and missing; occasionally, a dream comes true. Communism is reported at its lowest ebb in this country; that means some low ebb. France and Italy are willing to disarm but they do not care for the proposed conference. Last year's spring chickens are beginning to take an interest in this year's spring gardens. There are certain to be discour agements in life, but in the end happiness and success will arrive. The House and Senate are equal; last week there was a fist fight in each body on the same day. Our extra slice of pie for this week is reserved for the sweet young thing who is sure that she is not fickle. Send in contributions to the Roanoke Beacon. We are always glad to hear from our readers, either along the line of news or opinion. Five of our battleships outrange the world, and at least two score of our Congressmen outshout the, world. Some day. when you are pepless, and have a lot of work to do. read some of the "culture" ads in the magazines and you will get a good supply. If the new talking films are per fected it might be a good idea to use them at campaign meetings and later remind the politicians of their promises.
