S Navy Air Corps, were married at S o'clock Wednesday afternoon Sep tember 8 at the home of the bride The ring ceremony was performed b\ the Rev. Edward T. Gilbert, priest of the St. Agnes Catholic Church ir Washington. Mrs. Sa. Whitehurst, pianist, ot Bethel and Miss Barbara Dodson, ol Goldsboro, soloist, presented a pro gram of wedding music. The bride was attended by her sis ter, Miss Edith Briley, who wore a white taffeta dress and a Juliet cap Her arm bouquet was of mixed flow ers. The bridegroom had as his best man. Charlie Wood, lieutenant <jg> U. S. Navy An Corps, of Edenton The bride's dress was of white satin, fashioned with a yoke edged with seed pearls. The veil, falling from a coronet of orange blossoms, extended the length of the train. She I carried a prayer book with an orchid showered with stephanotis. Mrs. Davidson, daughter of Mr and Mrs. C. H Briley, of Bethel, is a graduate of ECTC. in Greenville, and lias taught in the Goldsboro schools two years. Lt Davidson, the son of Mr. and Mrs W. A Davidson sr of Plym outh, attended High School at Bel mont Abbey, studied at State Col lege two years and graduated from ECTC, Greenville, in 1941. He en listed in June of that year and was commissioned in Hie U. S. Navy An Corps.in August 194:1 After serving six months on active duty in the South Pacific lie returned to the States last month for a furlough. Lt Davidson will return to duty on September 22. Following the ceremony the bridal couple attendant- and friends were entertained at a cake cutting by the parents of the bride. The dining room table covered witli an em broidered cloth, was centered with an arrangement of white gladioli and fever few flanked by white candles in silver holders. Bridal ices were serv ed from one end of the table and the three tier wedding cake from the other end. Nuts and white mints were also served. The living room was decorated with tall standards holding burning white tapers and tall baskets filled with white gladioli and fern. For the ceremony the bridal couple stood before an improvised altar. Immediately after the reception Mr. and Mrs. Davidson left on a wed ding trip to unannounced points. Fur traveling I lie bride wore a sol dier blue suit with black accessories. Her corsage was an orchid. Mr. and Mrs. W A. Davidson, sr. entertained their family at a dinner at their home Tuesday evening, Sep tember 7 prior to the Davidson Bn ley wedding the next day. Those present were W. A. David son. jr Phyllis Davidson, Mr. and Mrs B. S. Sellers and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Georgia Wedding, of Arkansas. They all attended the wedding on Wednes day. Mattie Macon Circle Meets Tuesday Evening The Mattie Macon Circle of tlu Woman’s Misisonary Society of the local Baptist Chuich met on Tuesday evening with Mrs. Harry Stell. Mrs. C L. September 12 at the Plymouth Methodist parsonage. The Rev O L. Hardwick, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony The bride wore a tan and brown ensemble with brown accessories. Her shoulder corsage was of yellow rose buds. Mrs. Allen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Walters, of Cone toe. Mr. Allen is the son of Mrs. Vida Allen and the late A T. Allen. Newkirk Entertains Bridge Club Mrs. ,T II. Newkirk entertained her bridge club Thursday night with Mrs. D W. Hunt and Mrs. Wiley Griste, of South Carolina special guests. Mu Jack Horner won the high score prize and Mrs, Dan Satterth waite wa- runner-up Mrs Lester 1 Ciofron won at bingo and Mrs. Griste received tire visitor’s prize.
