Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Hunter, of Swannanoa, were Sunday guesta of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Clayton. Lloyd Allison has accepted a posi tion with a Piggly-Wiggly store in Asheville. Mrs. Mildred Scott returned to her home in Tampa, Fla., last week after visiting her aunts, the Misses Shipman, at The Bryant. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McCall attended the funeral of Mrs. 3. L. Chastain of Jackson tounty. Mrs. CHaslain had for sonic time been taking treatment from Dr. SOCIETY NEWS ENJOYABLE CAMPING TRIP A camping trip, which proved highly enjoyable, was that spent in the Mt. Pisgah section the past week-end, the party including sev eral faculty members of the Brevard High School. Those enjoying the trip were: Mr. and Mrs. Willis Brittain, Miss Sarah Keels, Misses Lois and LucQe Wike, Miss Janie Strickland, Coach Tilson and Frank Register. WEDNESDAY CLUB IN INTERESTING MEETING The Brevard Wednesday club met October J.6 at the home of the honorary member, Mrs. J. A. Miller. Mrs. Harry Clarke and Mrs. Roy Long were elected active members to fill the vacancies caused by the resignations of Mrs. F. P. Sledge and Mrs. J. A. Miller. Two substitutes, Mrs. R. L. Alexander and Mrs. S. P. Verner, were present in the places of Mrs. Hinton McLeod and Mrs. E. W. Blythe, temporarily absent. The club received the re port of its delegate to the district meeting of the N. C. F. W. C. at Old Fort on October 8. The program of the day was in charge of Mrs. R. W. Everett, who wrote on a few of the world's fa mous diamonds, including the Kul linan, Koh-i-moor, Hope blue, Tif fany yellow (the only two owned in America), Dresden green, Em press Eugenie, Regent or Pitt, Fhah, Sancy, etc. etc. Instead of its usual simple re freshments, the demonstrator of a modern cook-ware corporation asked the privilege of serving the Wednes day club with an elaborate two course dinner, which was done and greatly enjoyed by all. The club adjourned to meet October 30 with the president, Mrs. H. N. Carrier, at Rockbrook. Wilkerson, but was so far gone he was unable to help her, it is said. She was before her marriage, Miss Laura Shook. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and four chil dren. her parents and two brothers.
