THE PRAyERCOmEk THE LOVE OF FREEDOM "For ye, brethren, were called to freedom" ? Galatians 5:13. Election Day draws near. Join with me in these stirring thoughts on THE LOVE OF FREEDOM: "Nothing is more difficult to pre serve than the True Love of Free dom in a Free Country." "Being habituated to it, men, and women too, cease to consider by what sacrifice it was obtained, and by what precautions and safeguards it. must be defended." "We need also to have a cleaner conception of what Real Freedom is ? ? It is not a state of things in which every man and woman does exactly and only what they like." "It is rather a state of mind in which men and women like to do what they can. what they may, and what they ought." "To enjoy it a man or woman must have some knowledge of their natural powers, their civic privil eges, and their moral duties." By knowing and accepting these they become free to realize their ibest selves as members of mankind. Liberty itself is the great lesson, and in learning it we need teachers ? the wise, the just, the free of all ages." ! "Most of all, we need the help cf Religion, by which alone the founda tions of the State are laid in Righteousness and Democracy is saved from its own suicidal tenden cies. i "If the Sor. therefore shall mak? you free, ye shall be free indeed.' I 'Stand fast therefore in the Libertj wherewith Christ had made yoi free, and be not entangled agair with the yoke of bondage." Johr 8:36; Galatians 5:1. "He is the Free man whom the Truth makes Free. And all are Slaves besides." A PRAYER FOR FREKlJuni Dear Lojd, we do thank Thee for our land. We love it. Help us to love it intelligently, and to serve its needs with all our heart. May we be loyal to our Heritage because we are grateful to Thee. May we be ctive in our duty because we know we are Sons and Daughters, and may our Sympathy be so inspired by Thee, that human need may never call in vain. God bless our land, make her Rulers righteous and her People true. And so hasten Thy Kingdom. O Thou Blessed Son, take posses sion of my heart, my reason, my understanding, my will. Enthrone Thyself in the empire of my being, that in Thy sence of mastery I may learn for the first time what it is to be free, and know what it is to be at rest. When I shall take Thy Yoke upon me I shall find rest unto my soul, for the yoke of Thy Love is Perfect Joy, and the Law of Thy Life is Perfect Liberty. hall I know what The Love of Freedom truly is; and be indeed a loyal citizen and a true follower of Thee, in whom alone True Freedom is, for if Thou make me Free, I am Free indeed. In Thy name and for Thy sake I ask it, Amen. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our thanks t?i the good people in the vicinity nf Enon Baptist church for the ample "pounding" brought to us on Oct. 18.
