Inter-Denominational Meet ing of Workers Set For Sept. 3 Atitiouncement was made here Mon day of tK6 Macon county Sunday school convention for Sunday school "workers of all denominations which is to be held in the Newman chapel Baptist' church, 15 miles south of Franklin, near Highway No. 285, all day Wednesday, September 3. ' The convention is being held under the auspices of the Macon county and the North Carolina Sunday school as 'sociations. The officers of the local county association are as follows : Ralph D. Westj Iotla, county presi dent; J. S. Gray, Franklin, vice-presi dent; Miss Lola Ramsey, Tellico, secetary; and the following township presidents: T. T. Smith, Franklin; 'A.' Q. Williams, Franklin; W. H. Dalton, Leatherman; Tom Bryson, Cullasaja; Odom Penland, Scaley; J. W. Addington, Franklin; F. B. Cook, Highlands; J. M. Raby, Franklin; Pat Solesbee, Kyle ; Chas. McClure, Frank lin; John Fulton, Gneiss. , One of the outside speakers for the convention will be Miss Flora Davis, Raleigh, general superintendent of the North Carolina Sunday school asso ciation. Other speakers will be an " hounced later. A number of the cpunty's well-known Sunday school teachers will also take part in the various sessions of the convention. It is expected that this will be one of the largest and most representa tive Sunday school meetings ever held in the county. Dr. and Mrs. C. W. Hill of Atlanta are at Trimont Inn for several days. Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Hall of Ashe ville spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. D. G. G. .Wilkie, in: Franklin last Tuesday. ' ; Miss Virginia Sloan was confined to her home several "days this week as the result of a slight operation on her foot. Mr. George Pattillo of Macon, Ga., is spending several days in Franklin with relatives this week. He will re turn to Macon on Friday. Mr, McArthur Jollay of Detroit, who has been visiting relatives and friends in Macon county, returned this week to his work. Mr. Ross Zachary is in Franklin for a visit after attending the first session of the summer school term at the Univesity of North Carolina.' Misses Tennie Lind Mather. Mary Frances Mather, and Jane Sheffield, all of Atlanta, are visiting Miss Hel en Brown at the Scott-Griffin hotel. -' : 'fjzyzzlldh Dale Of Flower Show The annual Macon County Flower show will be held Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the building next to Terry's Drug store, under the direction of the Gar-, den club. AH Macon county residents having any flowers are urged to bring them, as many gardens have been injured by the dry weather, and the supply of flowers is limited. All exhibits should be in by 9 o'clork, a. m., Tuesday in order that the committee may have , time to ar range the displays to advantage. ' The doors will be opened to the public at 2 p. m. Franklin People Visit Camp Daniel Boone Franklin people who visited Camp Daniel Boone on Sunday and Monday were; Mr, and Mrs. Mark Dowdle and daughters, Mrs. Jim Perry and sons, Jim and Victor, Mrs. Neville Sloan, Mrs. Francis Tessier, Neville Sloan, Jr., and W. W. Sloan, on Sunday; and Mrs. Smith Harris, and children, Mrs. McKenzie, Mrs. Lyles Harris and sons, and Roger Sutton on Monday. They all expressed themselves "as delighted with the camp and the ap pearance of the boys who ' were evi dently in the best of health and spirits. Camp Daniel Boone is the official scout camp for this section of the state. It is about 10 miles from Asheville in the Pisgah forest. The boys receive instruction in swimming, canoeing, handicraft, nature study, and scout craft. The Franklin patrol is very well represented this year. This is her first visit to her old home in 18 years. y Dick Jones and Rev. J. A. Flanagan left Tuesday morning for Gaffney, S. C, to attend a two-day session of presidents and secretaries of the Rotary clubs of the- 58th District. This district takes in the clubs of the State of South Carolina and Western North Carolina. ' Miss Elizabeth Kelly suffered a sec ond heart attack on Sunday nighr, after she had been up several days from a previous attack that had con fined her to her for two weeks. Visitors are not being allowed in Miss Kelly's room until her condition improves. Mrs. Graham Grindstaff of Keene, N. H., is visiting her father, Mr. Jake Palmer, near Franklin. She ac companied her sister, Mrs. Roy Mize, on (her return from Akron, O., where they both attended the funeral of their sister, 1 Mrs. Vergil Jacobs. In the water sports contest held last Wednesday at Camp Daniel Boone near, Asheville, Boy Scouts represent ing the Wayah patrol of Franklin iwon several places. The Wayah pa trol won third plare in the contest with 10 points. In the back stroke swimming contest Bobby Sloan won third place. George Sloan won third place in' the sid stroke contest and first place in the crab canoe race. He and Joe Dowdle won third place in the canoe tilting contest. Bobby Sloan and Jesse Tessier tied for third place in the diving contest. ,Miss Ella Deal of Raleigh and sis ter, Mis? Marjorie, of Hamilton, N. C, arrived Tuesday to spend a few days here as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Johnston. Miss Ella is a teacher in the Hardargern Business school in Raleigh. Mrs. J. A. The captured offenders were lodged in the Macon coupty jail and their bonds fired at $500 each at a preliminary hearing. The officers report that they had been watching for several weeks for the automobile which was captured Sunday night, and had had its oc cupants under surveillance during the period.
