Marriage Of Miss
Cagle And Clifford
Moses Announced
Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Cagle of
Cullowhee have announced the
marriage of their daughter, Miss
Gwendolyn Cagle, to Clifford
Moses, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T.
Moses, of Cullowhee. The wedding
took place on November 22 at the
home of the bride. The Rev. R. T.
Houts, Jr., officated using the
double ring ceremony.
The bride was unattended. For
her wedding she wore a suit of
white gabardine with black ac
cessories. Her corsage was of red
rose buds.
Tommy Moses was his brother's
best man.
Preceding the ceremony a small
reception for members of the fam
ilies and a few close friends was
held at the home of the bride's
parents. The bridal table was cov
ered with a hand made lace cloth
and centered with the wedding
cake.
Mrs. Moses, graduate of Webster
high school, completed her studies
at Western Carolina Teachers col
lege November 26. She will re
ceive her diploma in June, 1948.
Mr. Moses is a graduate of Cul
lowhee High school and is now a
student at United Television Lab

turned to Charleston, S. C. after
spending a week with her paretns,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Buchanan.
Mr. Thomas Mills, Miss Mar

children, Billy and Irene, of Fort
Mills, S. C. were overnight guests
Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. M. C.
Cunningham. Mr. Mills is Mrs.
Cunningham's father and Miss
Mills and Mrs. Fox are her sisters.
Mrs. Nelson B. Shepherd of Ashe
ville spent last week with her mo
ther, Mrs. Carey Allison, at Moun
tain* View Farm. Mr. Shepherd
came over for the day ? Sunday
and Mrs. Shepherd returned home
with him.
Miss Mary Cecil Bryson, senior
nurse at Erlanger hospital, Chat
tanooga, returned to Chattanooga,
Tuesday, after a few days \tfsit
with her parents, .Mr. and Mrs. T.
C. Bryson, Jr. Bill Patterson of
Atlanta was a week-end guest of
the Brysons.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Tweed have
returned from Chillicothe, Ohio
where they were called last week
by .the sudden death of his nephew,
Al!6n Whttney. I^hey visited his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Tweed, while away.
Mrs. A. C. Reynolds has gone
to Old Fort t6 spend a few days
with Mr. Reynolds, who is staying
there and doing some work in his
orchard for the next few weeks.

He served two years in the United
States Army in World War II, 18
months of that time being spent in
overseas duty.
Immediately after the ceremony
the couple left for a short wedding
trip. After Christmas they will re
side in Louisville, Kentucky.

Wesleyan Service Guild
Has Christmas Party
The living room of the Metho
dist parsonage, with a gaily deco
rated Christmas tree and lighted
by red tapers in crystal holders,
formed a lovely setting for the an
nual dinner meeting of the Wesley
an Service Guild with Mrs. W. Q.
Gritfg as hostess.
Dinner was served at the dining
table and at two small tables, each
with its white cover and centered
with a red candle. Mr. Grigg gave
the devotional and the president,
Mrs. Gudger Forti^er, p resided
over a short business session, dur
ing which plans were completed
for the Christmas activities of the
guild.
Gifts were exchanged followed
by a social hour of conversation,
and games. Fourteen members
were present and Mrs. N. R. Bach- j
am, Mrs. Harry Hastings and Rev.
Mr/ Grigg were guests.
To conclude the meeting, Mrs.
J. M. Bird gave a portrayal of the
hymn, "Nearer, My God, To Thee",
in the sign language as used by
the deaf.
Andrews and Miss Thelma Moody
of Whittier visited their aunt and
sister, Mrs. Cary Allison, Sunday.

Christmas Cantata
The Christmas Cantata, "The
Cradle of Bethlehem", presented
by the choir of the Cullowhee
Methodist church, directed by the
pastor, Rev. R. T. Houts, Jr., at
5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, was
thoroughly enjoyed by a packed
auditorium. Many people from
Sylva and the surrounding com
munities attended and enjoyed the
presentation.

To Sponsor Dance
The Junior Woman's club will
sponsor a Holiday Dance at the
Community House on Monday eve
ning, December 29. The proceeds
from the dance will go the High
school band. Music will be by
Carol King and his Buccaneers.
Admission will be $1.00 plus tax.

On Friday afternoon at the reg
ular chapel hour a program of
Christmas carols was played by
a part of the band. The children
joined in singing some of the carols.

returned to her home after having
been a patient in the hospital at
Winston-Salem. She is recovering

Franklin Sunday to visit their
daughter, Mrs. Lyle Hooper, who
is spending a few days with Mrs.
Pritchard Smith, after being a
patient at Angel hospital,
i Mr. Lee Wike celebrated his 80th
birthday at his home last Sunday
with a dinner. All eight of his
children were present as well as
several grandchildren and a num
ber of friends. Mr. Will Bryson,
wto was 83 years old shared honors
with Mr. Wike.
The regular monthly meeting of
the Ladies Aid society met with
Mrs. Roy Potts last Tuesday. A
Christmas program was rendered
with Mrs. Oscar Wike presiding.
The next meeting will be with Mrs.
Maude Phillips at Cullowhee.

Elmer Bryson Passes 1
At Home At Speedwell
Elmer H. Bryson, 43, died at his
home near Speedwell on Wednes
day, November 26. He was a vet
eran of World War II.
Funeral services were conduct
ed oil Friday afternoon at 2:30
