Committee members have been named and preliminary plans are being made for the an nual celebration of May Day at Western Carolina Teachers college. The festivities, to be observed the first Friday in May, will have a Spanish theme. Prof. Ernest V. Deans, Jr., who wrote the script for the program last year, will write it again this year. The outstand ing business transacted was the election of officers for the new year, namely: president, Mrs. F. H. Brown, Cullowhee; vice -presi dent, Mrs. Has Barrett, Dillsboro. secretary, Mrs. Harry Shelton, Qua 11a; and treasurer, Mrs. Edd Reed of Sylva. In accepting the office as president Mrs. Brown asked the same loyal support and cooperation from the members as was given Mrs. Higdon during her several years as president. Mrs. Brown also called a meeting for Wednesday of last week ef all the incoming officers together with the outgoing officers that the work may be organized and ready to function effectively upon the ar rival of the recently appointed home agent, Mrs. Francis Dilling ham, of Buncombe county, for Jackson county.
