El Paso, Texas, the home of early friends, will be the next stop. Crimson clover turned under annually will increase the nitrogen and* humus content of the soil, resulting in less amounts of fertilizers being needed to main tain good growth and production. QUESTION ? How should the soil be prepared foy seeding to pasture or hay crops on plowabl^ land? ! ANSWER ? After satisfying the lime requirements of the soil, a firm seed bed should be prepared. The seed and fertilizer should be placed uniformly near the surface of the soil. For best results, the field should be cross-seeded.
