Glenville Lake was formed when Nan tahala Power Company built a dam on Tuckaseigee River for power to operate the Glenville power plant. The water from the lake is piped through large pipes and tunnels through the mountains for several miles before it goes into the Turbine at the power house. The lake covers an area of 1,472 acres. It is 4,000 feet above sea level and is well stocked with game fish. Numerous citizens of Sylva have cabins on the lake's shores where summer outings are enjoyed.
